– Via AIPT, Top Cow have announced, in partnership with EP1T0ME Studios, “Revolvers” written by John Zuur Platten, illustrated by Christian DiBari, and colored by Simon Gough. “Revolvers” follows a Detroit homicide detective named Hampton Wales, as he tries to solve his own murder while trapped in a violent alternate reality. “’Revolvers’ is hands down the darkest horror book I’ve done yet,” Christian DiBari said. “Revolvers” #1 (of 4) will be available October 5, 2022.
– Marvel launched “Avengers Unlimited,” a weekly Infinity comic written by David Pepose with art by Farid Karami. The first six-chapter arc features Iron Man, Black Panther, Captain America, She-Hulk, Captain Marvel, and Thor taking on the mysterious “Black Ledger.” “Avengers Unlimited” #1 is available to read for free, while new chapters drop every Tuesday. Marvel also revealed that Marvel Unlimited has reached 30,000 titles. In celebration of this milestone, Marvel is offering 30 free comics “in honor of 30,000 starting points.” Titles include “Ultimate Spider-Man,” a classic 1991 “X-Men” run, and “Thor: God of Thunder,” among others.
– In other Marvel news, via Newsarama, the publisher announced “AXE: Iron Fist” #1 from writer Alyssa Wong and artist Michael YG, the creative team behind the “Iron Fist” limited series that introduced Lin Lie in the role of Iron Fist. The one-shot follows Lin Lie as he searches for a way into the mystical city of K’un-Lun to face Shou-Lao the Undying. The one-shot is said to feature Loki, though in what role, remains to be seen. “AXE: Iron Fist” #1 will be available October 12, 2022.
– Via DK Books, Marvel have announced Black Panther: Wakanda Atlas. Written by Evan Narcisse, the book includes newly commissioned maps, essays and artwork, all aimed at bringing the world of Wakanda to life. The book will feature locations key to the Black Panther comics, such as Birnin Zana, the Golden City, the Great Mound, and the Necropolis. Black Panther: Wakanda Atlas will be available on September 6, 2022.
– Drawn & Quarterly released a three-minute animated reading of Emma Grove’s “The Third Person,” narrated and directed by Arizona O’Neill. This graphic memoir depicts Emma, a trans woman, and the struggles she faces when trying to receive gender affirming care. “The Third Person” is available now, and you can read our review of it here.
– The 2022 Primetime Emmy Award nominations were announced, with Marvel Studios earning a total of 19 nods for their Disney+ outings. Loki picked up six nominations in the technical and music categories, while Moon Knight scored eight nominations, including Best Music Composition for a Limited or Anthology Series, Movie or Special; Best Character Voice-over Performance (for F. Murray Abraham as Khonshu); Best Stunt Coordination for a Drama Series, Limited or Anthology Series or Movie; and Best Stunt Performance.
Hawkeye also picked up a couple of nods for Best Stunt Coordination for a Comedy Series or Variety Program, and Best Stunt Performance. What If…? also earned a few nominations including Outstanding Animated Program, with Chadwick Boseman earning a posthumous nomination for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance along with Jeffrey Wright. – Finally, Deadline reports Alden Ehrenreich has joined the cast of Marvel and Disney+’s Ironheart. The series will star Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, who makes the most advanced suit of armor since Tony Stark’s Iron Man armor. Ironheart is also set to star Anthony Ramos. Chinaka Hodge was recently tapped as head writer on the series. Alden Ehreireich previously starred in Solo: A Star Wars Story as a young Han Solo. Ironheart is currently in development, and will follow Riri’s introduction in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
