In case you missed it, filmmaker Duncan Jones (Moon, Warcraft, Mute) announced he will be directing a new film based on 2000 AD’s “Rogue Trooper,” Lion Forge continues to expand its Caracal imprint, and BOOM! Studios have announced that they’ll be releasing a series of graphic novels set within the world of Ben 10’s 2016 reboot.

According to ComicBook.com, the return of Cyclops may be imminent. The time-displaced young version of the character has been starring in “X-Men Blue,” but the adult version was killed off in the 2016 miniseries “Death of X.” A teaser image drawn by Pepe Larraz and Marte Gracia seems to indicate as much. Marvel released the image to promote the forthcoming miniseries “Extermination,” written by Ed Brisson and illustration by Pepe Larraz. “Extermination” #1 is slated for an August 15th release.

– Pepe the Frog originated on Matt Furie’s MySpace page in 2005 with strips that were later reprinted in the 2006 “Boy’s Club” comic. Since then the character has became an inexplicable mascot for white supremacists and supporters of the Alt-Right political movement. Recently Matt Furie filed a lawsuit to prevent various alt-right outlets and commentators from appropriating Pepe’s likeness. According to Motherboard, Alt-Right figurehead Richard Spencer and Neo-Nazi site The Daily Stormer have dropped Pepe’s likeness from their online activity, but prominent Trump supporter/school shooting “truther” Alex Jones has refused to comply with the lawsuit, and plans to fight Furie over Pepe’s usage. Both Furie and Pepe publisher Fantagraphics have condemned the Alt-Right movement and Pepe’s association with it.

– Meanwhile, according to Bleeding Cool Italian cartoonist Zerocalcare (“Kobane Calling”) has been denied a visa to enter the United States. Despite the fact that Zerolcare (who has written for DC Comics under their Zuda Imprint) has no criminal record and is in fact visiting the United States for professional purposes (namely to attend the San Diego Comic Con), the US Embassy has refused to grant him entry. Zerocalcare’s political activity and recent visit to Iraq have been cited as possible reasons for the Visa denial.

According to CBR.com Marvel is delaying the first three issues of its new Punisher series. The original release date for issue 1 has been moved from from Aug. 1st to Aug. 22nd, and issues 2 and 3 have been pushed back as well. Some are attributing the delay to a last minute shakeup in the title’s art team. The book’s originally solicited artist of Riccardo Burchielli (“DMZ”) has apparently been replaced by Szymon Kudranski (“The Penguin: Pain and Prejudice”).

Entertainment Weekly revealed Angela Bassett (Black Panther) and Justin Theroux (Iron Man 2) have joined the cast of the Bumblebee movie as the voices of two Decepticons. Bassett will play Shatter, a red Plymouth Satellite car, while Theroux will be heard as Dropkick, a blue AMC Javelin. The film will be released on December 21st.

And also via Entertainment Weekly comes a new look at the Aquaman feature film. This time featuring the first look at Djimon Hounsou is his role as the Fisherman King. The press photo in question also gives us a sneak peek at the Fisherman Queen (Natalie Safran) and the Fisherman Princess (Sophia Forrest). Aquaman is also out on December 21st. This will be Hounsou’s second DC role after the Wizard in Shazam!, which will be released on April 5th, 2019.

Bleeding Cool reports that Marvel will publishing a collection of Annuals entitled “Marvel Universe: Time and Again.” The volume will be collecting Annuals that don’t fit comfortably within other collected editions, including “Journey Into Mystery: The Birth of Krakoa” #1, “Spider-Man Annual” #1, and “Silver Surfer Annual” #1 amongst others.

The Beat reports that Statix Press is offering a couple of titles that may appeal to fans of French comics. First, they announced that they would be releasing the “Wrath of Fantomas” based on the seminal French crime character, and now they’re announcing “Salammbô,” Philippe Druillet‘s adaptation of Gustave Flaubert‘s celebrated novel. “Salammbô” is slated for a November 2018 release.

– And finally we can can report the results of the latest Multiversity Comics Readers poll. It’s summer in the Northern Hemisphere, which means that many of us are gearing up for our summer vacations. So, we wanted to know, do you read comics on vacation? Well, you answered loud and clear. 55 percent of you said yes, you read comics everywhere (print format), 33 percent of you said you read comics everywhere digitally, and 7 percent replied “I bring some, but never get around to it.”
