Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.
– Announced over at the Hollywood Reporter, David Petersen’s “Mouse Guard” is gearing up for a film adaptation. Written by Gary Whitta, a writer on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and produced by Matt Reeves, director of Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, the adaptation is said to take an approach similar to the Jungle Book film from this year, blending live action with computer generated animals. This could be very cool or we could be looking at the next Legend Of the Guardians: The Owls Of Ga’Hoole. I hope it’s cool.
– Speaking of cool, Slayer is getting a comic book. Yeah, Slayer as in the band. Yeah, you know the one. Announced at Rolling Stone, Slayer have teamed up with Dark Horse for a three issue series titled “Slayer: Repentless”. The series will be written by Jon Schnepp and illustrated by Guiu Vilanova and will tell a blood-soaked revenge story in the vein of their recent music videos. I can’t wait to see how this turns out.
– As part of the lead up to Comic Con International at San Diego, it’s been revealed over at Entertainment Weekly by way of a Neal Adams poster for the event that Ron Fuches has joined the cast of NBC’s Powerless. Ron Fuches is one of the funniest stand up comedians I have ever seen and I cannot wait to see what he brings to this superhero comedy, especially given the description of his character as being someone who has never lost faith in superheroes.
– BOOM! Studios have announced “Mega Princess”, a comic by Kelly Thompson and Brianne Brouhard (an artist I’ve featured on Art Of The Week frequently) as part of their kaBOOM! all ages line. It’s about a princess who uses her princess powers to search for her lost brother. It sounds, and looks, adorable.
– Speaking of adorable, this… isn’t so much. But it is cool: Wolf Cop is getting a comic. Written by Max Marks with art from Arcana Studios, the 80s-style horror comedy will finally be unleashed from the shackles of an indie movie budget and let loose on comics. Hopefully he’ll take the translation well.
– Finally, there’s going to be a new episode of He-Man And The Master Of The Universe airing at SDCC. Remember that He-Man cartoon you watched as a kid? Yeah, the one from the 80s. Well, we’re getting a new episode of the show made in that style. Check out the trailer at the link. It looks well daft.
