In case you missed it, BOOM! Studios revealed a new horror series called “The Approach,” and Dark Horse Comics announced “Leonide The Vampyr: Miracle at the Crow’s Head.” Plus, we have exclusive previews of “Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: Time Is a River,” and “The Bend of Luck,” as well as cover reveals for “Mind MGMT: Bootleg” #4 and “The Shaolin Cowboy: Cruel to be Kin” #6.

– Via IGN, Rodney Barnes and Germán Erramouspe have teamed up for a new horror series called “The Butcher of Black Bottom.” Set in 1920s Detroit, the book depicts an influx of African American migrant workers from the south at the same time that a serial killer is on the loose, amid high racial tensions. “The Butcher of Black Bottom” will debut digitally on Barnes’ Substack channel, Dark Apocrypha Presents, and will later be released in print form through his Zombie Love Studios imprint. Barnes will be discussing this and other projects in a pair of San Diego Comic-Con panels on Saturday.

– Image have announced “Kaya,” a fantasy-adventure by writer and artist Wes Craig. “Kaya” follows a young girl with a magic arm who is tasked with delivering her little brother to a faraway safe haven, where he hopes to discover the secret to overthrowing the evil empire that took over their land. “Kaya #1 will be available in comic book stores on October 5, 2022.

– Via CBR, Opus Comics announced some of their Halloween 2022 titles. First up, is “Bill & Ted Present: Death,” a one-shot from Erik Burnham, John Barber, Federica Manfredi, and Wayne Nichols that follows Bill and Ted’s Grim Reaper friend. Next, Joe Harris and Axel Medellin team up for “Helloween” #1, which explores iconic characters depicted on album covers from the legendary German power metal band of the title. Finally, “Monsters of Metal” by Jason Howden, Llexi Leon and Luis Guaranga, features iconic monsters on the road as a heavy metal band. All three titles will be available in October for $6.66.

– Via AIPT, Image announced a Halloween-themed one-shot called “Halloween Party,” from the “Deadpool” creative team of Brian Posehn, Gerry Duggan, and Scott Koblish. The comic will bring back the characters of Scotch McTiernan and Weed Thing from their previous one-shot “The Secret History of the War on Weed,” and see them discover the things that go bump in the night are having a harder time scaring people as America becomes an increasingly dangerous place. Gerry Duggan said “All the dumb fun we had on 4-20 is back but this time in Halloween masks. We’re laughing our asses off, and can’t wait to invite you over to this year’s ‘Halloween Party.’” “Halloween Party” #1 will be available in comic stores October 12, 2022.

– Via The Beat, Archie Comics announced the debut of two new characters in “Archie’s Halloween Spectacular” #1. Trick, a pumpkin, and Treat, a ghost, were designed by Archie Comics art director Vincent Lovallo. The pair will be featured in their own short story, titled ‘Spirits of Halloween,’ written by Ian Flynn, with art by Ryan Jampole, colors by Glenn Whitmore, and lettering by Jack Morelli. The official synopsis reads, “This pair of impish magical creatures come around every Halloween to cause chaos wherever they go — and this year, that just so happens to be Riverdale!” “Archie’s Halloween Spectacular” #1 will be available October 5, 2022.

– Via ComicBook.com, IDW’s Sonic the Hedgehog line will also be getting into the Halloween Spirit with “Sonic the Hedgehog: Scrapnik Island,” by writer Daniel Barnes, artist Jack Lawrence, and colorist Nathalie Fourdraine. The book will follow Sonic and Tails as they fight to survive on a robot island designed to be their nightmare. “Sonic the Hedgehog: Scrapnik Island” #1 will be available in October 2022. IDW also announced “Sonic the Hedgehog: Tails’ 30th Anniversary Special” (marking 30 years since his debut in Sonic the Hedgehog 2) by Ian Flynn, featuring art by Aaron Hammerstrom and colors by Reggie Graham, which will debut in November 2022.

– And rounding out the spooky annoucements, Marvel announced “Crypt of Shadows” #1. This oversized issue will feature stories from Chris Cooper, Al Ewing, Danny Lore, Rebecca Roanhorse, Adam Warren, and Chris Condon with art by Karen S. Darboe, Geoff Shaw, Adam Warren, Ibrahim Moustafa and more. Featured characters will include Moon Knight, Wolverine (Laura Kinney), Elsa Bloodstone, Man-Thing, both the original and new Werewolf by Night, Bloodline, the daughter of Blade, Morbius, and Victoria Montesi, from the “Darkhold: Pages from the Book of Sins” series that Cooper wrote in the ’90s. “Crypt of Shadows” #1 will be available October 19, 2022.

– Marvel also revealed a preview for the latest arc of “Spider-Verse Unlimited” #7 which stars Peni Parker. Marvel’s description of the Infinity comic, from writer and artist Ken Niimura, reads “Peni just wants to be a regular teenager. But how normal can it be when you share a psychic bond with a radioactive spider in order to co-pilot a mech suit as Sp//der?” Head on over to Marvel to check out a sneak peak at “Spider-Verse Unlimited” #7. New chapters will be made available Tuesdays.

– Via ComicOn.com, Image have announced “Hitomi,” a five-part historical fiction series. Written by HS Tak with art by Isabella Mazzanti, it follows a drifter in Feudal Japan as she begins training under a disgraced samurai named Yasuke, while navigating a violent and discriminant society and her place in it. Tak described the miniseries as “a story about two outsiders who forge an unusual bond in a turbulent and beautiful world.” “Hitomi” #1 will be available on October 12, 2022.

– Via Screen Rant, AHOY Comics announced that Mark Russell and Steve Pugh will reunite for “Billionaire Island: Cult of Dogs.” This sequel picks up in 2046, two years after Billionaire Island was destroyed, with the global economy now in ruins, the President of the United States on the run, and Trent, the first book’s protagonist, still hunting billionaires. Meanwhile, a cult rises around Business Dog, the canine Chairman of the titular Billionaire Island. “Billionaire Island: Cult of Dogs” will be released this fall.

– Sony have delayed the Madame Web movie to October 6, 2023, and claimed a June 7, 2024 release date for another movie in their Spider-Man Universe. Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Emma Roberts, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahir Rahim, and Adam Scott are starring in the Madame Web movie, which just began filming under director S.J. Clarkson, and was initially intended for release next year on July 7.

– Finally, GlobalComix and Valiant Entertainment have announced a licensing partnership. GlobalComix Gold members will be able to access more than 1,600 comics made available on the platform across over 130 titles with unlimited reading. CEO & Founder of GlobalComix said “We are honored to partner with them to bring the Valiant Universe to comics fans around the world through GlobalComix.” In celebration of the announcment, until August 1, 2022, GlobalComix is offering customers their first month for only $1.99, or an entire year for just $59.99, $30 off the normal subscription price.
