Usually we don’t post Rundowns on Saturdays but it’s SDCC weekend and news is flying out left and right. This edition of the Rundown only has non-big two comic news as a Marvel and DC Rundown will be up later this morning. Let’s dive in!

Todd McFarlane is finally getting that Spawn reboot following the first cinematic adaptation of the character in 1997. McFarlane revealed that his reboot is going into production with Blumhouse, the production company behind recent horror films Get Out and Split. McFarlane said the movie is definitely getting an R-rating. No release date or window was announced.

– The acclaimed manga “One Piece” following the adventures of pirate captain Monkey D. Luffy and his crew sailing the Grand Line turned 20 years old this year and with that it’s getting a live-action adaption. Tomorrow Studios alongside producer Marty Adelstein (Prison Break, Teen Wolf) and ITV Studios. Tomorrow Studios is also working on a live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop. No release dates or casting information was given.

– Both The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead premiered new trailers today, TWD for its upcoming 8th season and FTWD for the upcoming second half of season three. The TWD trailer shows off a ton of action and an older looking Rick, giving credence to the idea that the show may be headed for a time jump much like the comics. The FTWD trailer brought to life showrunner Dave Erickson’s statement that described the second half of the season as “bolder, bloodier, and more zombies than we ever have before. The 8th season of TWD premieres October 22 while FTWD returns September 10th.

– IDW is publishing a new “Jem and the Holograms” comic called “Jem and the Holograms: Dimensions,” which will be an anthology featuring a rotating cast of creators telling two distinct stories per issue set in Jem’s world. The debut issue features a story by Kate Leth drawn by Tana Ford and a story written and drawn by Sophie Campbell who was the original “Jem” artist with writer Kelly Thompson who is teased to return to the anthology at some point.

– Syfy’s live-action adaptation of Grant Morrison and Darick Robertson’s “Happy!” has cast Joseph Reitman to play a “crazy and delusional” central villain for the show which follows Nick Sax an ex-cop turned hitman, who, after a hit gone wrong meets a imaginary blue-winged horse named “Happy.” The pilot of the show was co-written by Morrison and Brian Taylor with Taylor directing. No premiere date for the show has been set.

– Finally, with the reveal that its getting a 10-episode Netflix season, the next installment of Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba’s “Umbrella Academy” has been announced for 2018 at Dark Horse. “Umbrella Academy: Hotel Oblivion” originally had a 2009 release date, but is now being promised for next year.
