Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com. Usually we don’t post Rundowns on Sundays, but it’s SDCC weekend and there’s too much news to be left until Monday.

So in case you missed the plethora of news from SDCC, we’ve got you covered:
– The Eisner Awards, the most prestigious awards in the industry were held on Friday night. “Monstress” reigned, with writer Marjorie Liu and artist Sana Takeda winning five awards for the Image Comics series.
Lucasfilm announced a “Star Wars” maxi-series spanning across all three trilogies from Marvel, an all-ages from horror comic from IDW, and two new novels.
– “The Vision” is getting a new six-issue miniseries.
BOOM! Studios announced that Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time will continue in comic book form as “Adventure Time Season 11.”
– At Warner Bros. Pictures’ San Diego Comic Con panel, fans were treated to a first look at Wonder Woman 1984, Shazam!, and Aquaman.
– Marvel Comics added three new titles to their Marvel Digital Orignals line.

– Now first up, fans of My Hero Academia can get excited as Funimation Films announced on Friday that it will screen My Hero Academia: Two Heroes in more than 400 theaters in the United States and Canada on September 25, 26, 27, 29 and October 2. The film will screen in both Japanese (with English subs) on September 25, 27, and 29 while the dubbed version will screen on September 26, and October 2. If that weren’t enough, it was announced the popular anime will be getting a novel spin-off series called My Hero Academia: School Briefs. While details are still unknown, it appears the novels will show the kids living normal lives away from their constant peril.

– IDW’s Black Crown imprint announced “Lodger,” a new series from “Stray Bullets” creators David and Maria Lapham. It follows a travel blogger – and serial killer – in the Midwest known only under the pseudonym “Lodger,” and Ricky Toledo, a teenager who fell for him years earlier when he rented a room in her home… and then murdered her mother. It’s “a twisted love story, dark and grimy, like all the best crime noir,” said Maria Lapham. The series starts in October.

– IDW also announced the late George A. Romero’s final film project, Road of the Dead, will become a three-issue comic book, scripted by Jonathan Maberry (“V-Wars”). According to Romero, the film was set “in a sanctuary city where this fat cat runs a haven for rich folks, and one of the things that he does is stage drag races to entertain them. There’s a scientist there doing genetic experiments, trying to make the zombies stop eating us, and he has discovered that with a little tampering, they can recall certain memory skills that enable them to drive in these races. It’s really The Fast and the Furious with zombies.”

– The CW released the trailer for The Flash season 5, which hints at the new big bad, Cicada, who in the comics was struck by lightning, and gained the ability to absorb the life-force of others. He formed a cult, whose followers were dedicated to the murder of every one that the Flash has ever saved, using lightning bolt shaped daggers. Cicada will be played will be played by Chris Klein (Election, American Pie). The Flash returns October 5.

– A trailer for Supergirl season 4 was released, introducing Sam Witwer as the xenophobic Agent Liberty, and a new spacesuit for Kara Danvers. At the show’s SDCC panel, it was announced that trans woman actress and activist Nicole Maines will play Nia Nal, aka Dreamer, who in the comics is a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes named Nura Nal / Dream Girl. April Parker Jones (Jericho, The Last Ship) was also cast as Colonel Haley, and David Ajala (Doctor Who, The Dark Knight) will play Manchester Black, the infamous Superman villain introduced in Joe Kelly, Doug Mahnke and Lee Bermejo’s storyline ‘What’s So Funny About Truth, Justice & the American Way?’ Supergirl season 4 starts October 14.
