– At San Diego Comic Con, Michael Dante DiMartino, Janet Varney, and Irene Koh gave attendees a preview look at “Legend of Korra: Turf Wars” #1. ‘Turf Wars’ picks up the story right after Korra and Asami walk hand in hand into the spirit realm together in the last episode of Nickelodeon’s Legend of Korra series. In addition to showing pages from the much anticipated book they announced that the second volume will be released January 31st 2018.
– Gerald Way and Gabriel Bá are finally delivering on the promise of the third “Umbrella Academy” story. At the Diamond Retailers Lunch, “Umbrella Academy: Hotel Oblivion” was announced again with an expected 2018 publishing date.
– Announced at the Cup O’ Joe event with Joe Quesada ,Marvel is launching a comics line specifically for the East Asian market. All new characters and new titles are planned for this line and will be released in China before spreading further across East Asia. The first two in production are “Aero” by writer Zhou Jiajun (a.k.a. Zhou Liefen) and artist Xu Ming (a.k.a. Keng), and “Sword Master” by writer Xi Shanshan (a.k.a. Droplet) and artist Chen Xioyun (a.k.a. Gun Ji). Marvel hopes to avoid the stigma that plagues some of their existing characters by employing local talent creating these books from the ground up. As of yet there are no plans for English versions of the books.
– “Spider-man/Deadpool” is getting a new creative team in Marvel Legacy. Writer Rob Williams and artist Chris Bachalo take over the book with “Spider-man vs. Deadpool” #23 Editor Nick Lowe also teased that every few issues will apparently feature the two characters together in a nursing home.
