– In what might be the coolest news that came out of SDCC that no one really caught, Variety has reported that Dope star, Kiersey Clemmons, will star in The Flash (the movie, not the show) as Iris West. This is interesting because when Candice Patton was cast as Iris for CW’s The Flash, it was seen as a major change for the character who is usually portrayed as white in the comics. Could that casting have changed who Iris forever?

– On the Marvel side of things, James Gunn has given us a look at Yondu’s band of Ravagers as they will appear in next year’s Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2. Check it out.

– Speaking of looks, check out Karl Urban’s new look that he’ll be sporting as Skurge The Executioner in Thor: Ragnarok next year. Here’s hoping he can grow that back before the next Star Trek movie.

– In a report from the New York Daily News, apparently Alden Ehrenreich has signed on for not one, but three Han Solo Anthology films. This.. is probably a smart move, actually. If the first film they’re gearing up for is a hit then Ehrenreich’s popularity is going to soar and it’s going to be easier to lock him into a long term contract now than wrangle one after the fact. Though, this has me thinking about a Han Solo trilogy where in the first part he escapes life on Corellia to become a smuggler, in the second part he meets and rescue Chewbacca and in the third part he wins the Millenium Falcon from Lando Calrissian. It’s probably not going to go that way, but I think that could be cool.

– While DC is already teasing alternate futures and time travel in their film series, Doctor Strange director Scott Derickson claims that his film will open up an entire multiverse for Marvel Studios to explore. Now, for the life of me, I can’t think of a Marvel Universe they’d want to explore seeing as not having the rights to the X-Men means they can’t use any of the good ones, but it definitely seems like there will be more going on in Doctor Strange than maybe we first anticipated.

– Finally, even thought it won’t return until February 2018, Pacific Rim 2 won’t be return with one of the first film’s main characters. Citing scheduling conflicts, Charlie Hunnam has confirmed that he won’t be returning to the sequel. This sucks because with a new director, a new writer and now the beginnings of an entirely new cast, I have to wonder at what point this sequel becomes Pacific Rim in name only.

Sworn to protect a world that hates and fears her, Alice W. Castle is a trans femme writing about comics. All things considered, it’s going surprisingly well. Ask her about the unproduced Superman films of 1990 - 2006. She can be found on various corners of the internet, but most frequently on Twitter: @alicewcastle
