In case you missed it, Titan Comics announced “Extraordinary” by V.E. Schwab.

— Dark Horse will release the entirety of “The Seeds” by Ann Nocenti and David Aja as a trade paperback on December 23, 2020. “The Seeds” had previously been on hiatus after only two issues of the four-issue series were published in 2018. Aja revealed earlier this year that work on “The Seeds” had been completed, but an official announcement had not been made yet as to the series’ future.

— Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips are collaborating on a new story told in three original graphic novels, according to Brubaker’s latest newsletter. Released over the next year, each OGN will tell a complete story starring the same character. No title or publisher has been released yet, though Brubaker teased he might reveal the title in his next newsletter. He also shared images from the series drawn by Phillips and colored by Jacob Phillips, which can be seen here.

— Dynamite issued a statement in response to criticism the publisher recently received for its affiliation with Comicsgate-associated creators Cecil, and Ethan Van Sciver. While neither figure was specifically named in the statement, Dynamite refers vaguely to a brief business association between Van Sciver and Dynamite CEO and Publisher Nick Barrucci, which Van Sciver recently revealed on a livestream. According to Dynamite, the association is behind them and it has “strengthened [their] resolve to continue working with the most diverse talent in creating the best comics possible.” Writer Rosie Knight accused Dynamite of paying lip service to diversity and inclusion, noting that the company’s Campaigns I’m Following list on Indiegogo includes works by Van Sciver, Richard Meyer, Dan Fraga, and Art Thibert.

— Scott Snyder revealed that he’s moving away from DC and superhero comics, according to an interview with Newsarama. Snyder, whose contract with DC ended in 2019, is looking to involve himself in more creator-owned works like the recently launched “Undiscovered Country” at Image. He teased future projects with Rafael Albuquerque, Greg Capullo, Jock, and Becky Cloonan, as well as a possible revival of the DC Writer’s Workshop, which he taught from 2015 through 2018.

— Frank Miller is facing a $25 million defamation and economic-interference lawsuit from producer Stephen L’Heureux over the rights to “Sin City” and “Hard Boiled.” In the suit, L’Heureux alleges that Miller and co-defendant Silenn Thomas have repeatedly thwarted television and movie adaptations with companies like MGM and Skydance Media. According to Miller’s lawyer, the claims made in the lawsuit are “baseless.”

— Stanley Tucci is starring in the AMC/Moviestar+ collaboration La Fortuna, based on Paco Roca and Guillermo Corral’s graphic novel “El Tesoro del Cisne Negro” (“The Treasure Of The Black Swan”). He plays Frank Wild, who travels the world stealing historic treasure from the oceans. He joins Spanish actor Álvaro Mel, who plays main character Alex Ventura, along with Ana Polvorosa, Clarke Peters, T’Nia Miller, Karra Elejalde, Manolo Solo, Blanca Portillo, and Pedro Casablanc.

— Square Enix released new details on its upcoming beta of Marvel’s Avengers. Content available during the beta includes several single-player missions and a large selection of additional missions that can be played solo with players’ AI Avengers team, or co-op with up to four players. One mission features Kamala Khan, a.k.a. Ms. Marvel, as she teams up with Hulk to infiltrate an AIM base in the American Pacific Northwest, on the trail of the last known location of JARVIS. A second mission that’ll be added post-launch features Clint Barton, a.k.a. Hawkeye. The beta begins August 7 for PlayStation 4 and August 14 for Xbox One and PC.

Ghost in the Shell is getting a 4K Ultra HD re-release to celebrate its 25th anniversary. According to a press release from Lionsgate, the 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack will include commemorative artwork from pop illustrator Martin Ansin, and brand new bonus material like audio commentary and two featurettes: “Accessing Section 9: 25 Years into the Future” and “Landscapes & Dreamscapes – The Art and Architecture of Ghost in the Shell.” It will release on September 8, 2020.

— Finally, Humanoids has named Matthieu Coppet as its Group Chief Operating Officer. The newly created position tasks Coppet with supervising operations in Los Angeles, Paris, and Tokyo, including overseeing the launch of new business lines. Most recently, Coppet was Chief Strategy Officer of Wonder, a game platform startup recently acquired by Atari.
