– Via The Beat, during a Dark Horse livestream, Karen Berger announced that G. Willow Wilson and Christian Ward‘s Eisner Award-winning series, “Invisible Kingdom,” will conclude its run in trade paperback format. Ten issues of the series have previously been released and collected into two volumes, with issue #11 originally solicited to release on June 24, 2020. In a tweet, Christian Ward said, “The third and last volume of ‘Invisible Kingdom’ will be going straight to trade. I have two issues left to draw and we’re on target to have the book be released Early 2021.”

– In a tweet, it was revealed that Marvel’s “Star Wars: Doctor Aphra” (which we’re reviewing for our 2020 Summer Comics Binge), won the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Comic Book Series. You can see a list of all the GLAAD Award winners here, or check out their Twitter page.

– VICE reports that The Threat Lab, a division of the Pentagon Defense Human Resources Activity (DHRA), have created a graphic novel, “Dangerous Disclosure,” in collaboration with the Pentagon’s Counter-Insider Threat Program and the National Insider Threat Task Force. The comic follows Hunter, a soldier on leave from Afghanistan, who reveals a picture that discloses important military information during a Tinder-like date, which winds up being released to the public. The comic is intended to “raise awareness of the harm that unauthorized disclosures may cause and help to prevent these damaging events.” You can read the comic at the CDSE’s website.

– In a tweet, Bianca Xunise explained that a recent comic strip had been dropped from several newspapers with an unauthorized apology from the artist. The comic strip depicts a white woman telling a black woman wearing a mask and a shirt reading “I can’t breathe,” that she should take the mask off if she can’t breathe. Xunise writes, “For the record I do not apologize for this comic and this is censorship.” Furthermore, she went on to explain the intent behind the strip, which you can read here.

– Kevin Smith has teamed up with WildBrain, a global leader in kids and family entertainment, to develop a new Green Hornet animated series The series will, like Smith and Jonathan Lau’s “Green Hornet” comic, be set in contemporary times, and follow the adventures of the grown son of the original Green Hornet and the daughter of the original Kato, as they partner to battle crime in Century City. It will also feature the Green Hornet’s ultra-high-tech car, Black Beauty. Deadline has more on the story.

Cartoon Crossroads Columbus (CXC) has revealed their official 2020 poster and logo for the next convention, which will take place online October 1-4, 2020. Gene Luen Yang, the celebrated author of “American Born Chinese,” “Boxers and Saints,” and “Superman Smashes The Klan,” will be the keynote presenter. You can see the poster and logo, by four-time Eisner nominated Columbus-based cartoonist and educator Ben Towle, here.

X-Men: Mutant Insurrection is the second Marvel game released by Fantasy Flight Games, following last year’s Marvel Champions, a co-op Living Card Game that involves building a deck centered around a single hero. X-Men: Mutant Insurrection will be released in early 2021, with a retail price of $54.95.

– Finally, Deadline reports that Dania Ramirez will co-star in Sweet Tooth, Netflix’s new drama series based on the DC Vertigo comic, produced by Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey’s Team Downey, and Warner Bros. Television. Ramirez is part of the series’ core cast, which includes Christian Convery, Nonso Anozie and Adeel Akhtar. Will Forte has a recurring role, while James Brolin serves as the narrator.
