– Dark Horse Comics and Mantic Games are teaming up to launch Hellboy: The Roleplaying Game, through a Kickstarter campaign. Developed by Red Scar Publishing, Hellboy: The Roleplaying Game allows players to become agents of the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense, as they investigate the many strange things that go on in the world. Once the Kickstarter launches, fans will be able to try it out via a quickstart game, which includes six pre-generated characters. More news, along with the Kickstarter launch date, will be released soon, but you can sign up for more information here in the meantime.
– Marvel have canceled the ongoing “Ghost Rider” series, written by Ed Brisson, after 7 issues. Brisson announced the cancelation on Twitter, saying Danny and Johnny’s adventures “will continue elsewhere in the Marvel Universe.” The series was originally solicited through #9 prior to the pandemic, along with two one-shots: “Empyre: Ghost Rider” #1, and “Ghost Rider Annual” #1. Issues #8 and #9, as well as the two one-shots, have not been re-solicited. A collection of “Ghost Rider” #5-#7 is still on schedule to release on September 22, and will include several previous one-shots.
– It has been announced that New Yorker cartoonist Roz Chast will give the keynote address for the NEA Big Read 2020. The virtual program will be televised on MCTV on August 13 at 7 p.m. The program will also be posted on Massillon Museum’s Facebook and YouTube channels. Chast’s 2014 award-winning graphic memoir, “Can’t We Talk About Something More Pleasant?” is this year’s book selection. The memoir focuses on enduring end-of-life issues with her parents, and free copies can be picked up at the Massillon Museum as supply lasts.
– Crystal Dynamics have announced that Spider-Man will be coming to Marvel’s Avengers exclusively on PlayStation in 2021. Marvel’s Avengers launches on PS4 on September 4, 2020, but his debut will be marked with an in-game event that will introduce him to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. The event will be comprised of unique challenges for the hero to take on, testing his abilities. Multiple cosmetic outfits and gameplay experience options will also be offered. The hero will be available early 2021 and at no additional cost to owners of the base game.
– Finally, Castlevania writer Warren Ellis is reportedly off the show after facing allegations of sexual misconduct by over 60 individuals. Ellis scripted all 22 episodes of the animated Netflix series to date. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Ellis will not be returning to the show if it is renewed for a fifth season. Netflix renewed the series for a fourth season earlier this year, so it is likely that the fifth won’t be available to stream until 2022.
