In case you missed it, AfterShock unveiled the supernatural saga “The Heathens,” and we have an exclusive preview of next month’s “Deadbox” #1, courtesy of Vault Comics.

– Marvel announced they will mark the Fantastic Four’s 60th anniversary in November with “Fantastic Four Anniversary Tribute,” a one-shot that’ll see numerous artists retell the story of “Fantastic Four” #1, as well as 1965’s “Fantastic Four Annual” #3 (‘The Wedding of Sue and Reed!’). Like this year’s “Captain America Anniversary Tribute,” the book will see its countless artists each recreate a page from Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s original stories. The comic will be released with a main cover recreating the quartet’s debut by Steve McNiven, and a variant by Jim Cheung based on Kirby’s work from the annual.
– Marvel also announced a new line of preschool books from Abrams Children’s Books. These include Magnificent Women of Marvel, a pop-up book by Evie Daye and artist Paulina Ganucheau, due out December 7, 2021; and My Mighty Marvel First Books, a line of books that’ll introduce kids to heroes like Doctor Strange and Thor, all while utilizing the art of co-creators Steve Ditko and Jack Kirby.
– In more Marvel news, Square Enix released “Marvel’s Avengers – Road to Wakanda: Children of T’Chaka,” a motion comic setting up the upcoming expansion Black Panther – War for Wakanda. Narrated by Debra Wilson as Okoye, with art by Alitha E. Martinez, the two-minute montage establishes the backstory of the game’s version of T’Challa and Shuri, as well as Ulysses Klaw. Marvel’s Avengers: Black Panther – War for Wakanda will be released for free on Tuesday, August 17.
– Erica Schultz and Marika Cresta’s comiXology series “Forgotten Home” will be released in print by Dark Horse Comics on April 5, 2022. The eight-part series, which debuted digitally in 2019, tells the story of Lorraine Adalet, a sheriff’s deputy who is actually from another world. When her daughter goes missing, Adalet is finally forced to confront her past. The print copy will come with a cover by Bill Sienkiewicz.
– Lucasfilm announced LEGO Star Wars: Terrifying Tales, a Halloween special that’ll be released on Disney+ on October 1. The special will see Poe Dameron and BB-8 heading to Mustafar after Graballa the Hutt buys Darth Vader’s castle, which she plans to turn into a hotel. It will feature the voices of Tony Hale as Vader’s loyal servant Vaneé, who will tell three stories pertaining to the villains of the saga, and Christian Slater as Ren.
– The New York Times shared in an interview with Star Trek showrunner Alex Kurtzman that the limited series based on Michael Chabon’s The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay (which Kurtzman is an executive producer on) is no longer in development at Showtime. It is instead “likely to be sold to an outside streaming service.” The article also confirms a Starfleet Academy series is among one of the Trek spin-offs currently in the works at Paramount+. The project, which was previously reported to involve Runaways creators Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz, “will be aimed at a younger audience.”
– Finally, io9 shared a first look at Jurassic Park: The Ultimate Visual History, a new book detailing the making of the first three films. Written by James Mottram, with a foreword by Sam Neill, an introduction from Laura Dern, and an afterword by Jeff Goldblum, the book will offer insight into the creation of the films, Universal rides, video games, toys, comics, and more. It will be released on October 26.
