– With Marvel’s “Death of Doctor Strange” event hitting shelves this fall, the Sorcerer Supreme has one last request. In “Death of Doctor Strange: Spider-Man” #1, Stephen Strange will hand select the friendly neighborhood wallcrawler as his heir, the only problem being that Peter Parker himself is set to die, leaving Ben Reilly to fill the position. Jed MacKay, who is scripting the main “Death of Doctor Strange” title, will handle writing duties, with Marcelo Ferreira on art. The five-issue event kicks off on September 22, with “Death of Doctor Strange: Spider-Man” #1 hitting shelves that November.

– With the success of “Barbaric,” Vault Comics has announced “big plans” for the series in 2022. These include a miniseries from co-creators Mike Moreci and Nathan Gooden, as well as a series of one-shots from a variety of creative teams. “Barbaric” #1 was the publisher’s highest selling single issue to date, selling out almost immediately, and already going through multiple printings. Issue #3 is due out August 25.

– Adult Swim announced on Twitter that Tuca & Bertie are “not flying the coop yet,” and will return to the Cartoon Network programing block for a third season. The series, which premiered on Netflix, was picked up by its current home last May, with its second season debuting the following June. No premiere date has been announced for the third season.

– Curators at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures revealed details for their upcoming Hayao Miyazaki exhibition, set to open on September 30 (alongside the museum). Jessica Niebel and J. Raul Guzman, who are curating the collection, appeared on the Ghibliotheque to discuss what will be included in the installation. Over 300 objects that will be on display, including everything from animation cells to original character designs, much of which will be displayed for the first time outside of Japan. This will be the museum’s first exhibition.

– CBR has an exclusive look at Valiant’s ”Shadowman” #6 by writer Cullen Bunn and artist Pedro Andreo. Due out in January 2022, issue #6 will continue the war between Shadowman and The Deadside. Bunn’s stated that several familiar faces will be showing up in the new arc, teasing “Would I punk you?” and “It’s Darquest before dawn.” The announcement also states Jon Davis-Hunt, who was the artist on the first arc of the relaunch, had to drop out because of scheduling conflicts, but that he plans to return to Valiant in future.

– Finally, as part of HBO Max’s efforts to branch into podcasting, Batman: The Audio Adventure will be released exclusively on HBO Max. The scripted audio drama stars Westworld and Casino Royale star Jeffery Wright (who will also portray Commissioner Gordon in WB’s upcoming The Batman), along with Rosario Dawson and John Leguizamo as Catwoman and The Riddler respectively. The audio drama is part of HBO’s efforts to expand their lineup of podcasts as part of its in-app experience.
