In case you missed it, Marvel announced a “Captain America/Iron Man” miniseries, while AfterShock announced “Miskatonic: Even Death May Die.” We also interviewed cartoonists Troy Nixey, and Evan Dahm.

– Via Newsarama, Skottie Young has become the latest comic book writer and artist, including James Tynion IV, to join the Substack platform. Young also announced he was relaunching “I Hate Fairyland” through his newsletter, Stupid Fresh Mess, though the new volume doesn’t appear to be Substack exclusive. “I’ve been making comics BOOKS for twenty years and that ain’t gonna stop now! You better believe my comics will GO TO PRINT and are going to be all up in your stores!” Young said. He also went on to say that his work for Marvel would continue.

– Via Anime News Network, Viz Media’s Shonen Jump manga service and Shueisha’s MANGA Plus service published the new 76-page chapter of Tite Kubo’s “Bleach” manga in English on Monday. The one-shot seems to end on a cliffhanger, and features the words “New Breathes From Hell” in English and “Gokui Meimei-hen” in Japanese: the character for “hen” is usually used to denote the title of an arc. The manga inspired a television anime adaptation that ran for 366 episodes from 2004 to 2012, and is set to return with a new anime that will cover the manga’s ‘Thousand Year Blood War’ arc. The arc is the final arc of the manga, and covers volumes 55-74. The new “Bleach” one-shot is available now.

– Via Polygon, Peow Studio has created their own digital comics reader for their series “Internal Affairs.” Three issues of Internal Affairs are available inside the new reader, all updated with commentary, new art, and chaotic music. You can toggle art, change backgrounds, and stack bottles. There are also sliders that allow you to zoom in and out on the book. “We wanted a digital comics format that actually takes advantage of being on computers so we learned how to make game,” reads Peow’s description. Peow said it intends to add more content and updates to the digital comics reader/game.

– Via Newsarama, Fan Expo has announced a deal with Wizard World to acquire six of Wizard World’s largest yearly comic conventions, including their Chicago, Philadelphia, New Orleans, Portland, and St. Louis Wizard World events. The event in Chicago is said to have the biggest potential. It is the second oldest comic event in North America behind San Diego Comic-Con, and for a time in the ’90s and early ’00s was the second largest comic convention in North America. Wizard World Chicago will take place this year from October 15th through the 17th, before it and the other five cities’ Wizard Worlds are rebranded as Fan Expos in 2022.

– Via Anime News Network, Pony Canyon USA’s Attack on Titan Orchestra Concert will be available to stream and watched on-demand outside Japan. The concert will stream on August 22 at 6:00 p.m. JST (5:00 a.m. EDT) through the ZAIKO streaming service. Composers Hiroyuki Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto will be at the concert. Performers Aimee Blackschleger, Eliana, Laco, and mpi will provide guest vocals, with voice actors Yuuki Kaji (Eren Jaeger), Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa Ackerman), and Marina Inoue (Armin Arlert) also making appearances. Video on demand access will be available until August 29. Tickets are on sale for $34.

– Via The Xbox Hub, the remastered version of Telltale’s Sam & Max Save the World has been released on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. All six episodes are combined in the remaster with the biggest change coming in the form of a complete lighting overhaul; the character models were also touched up alongside the music, sound effects and voices being remastered. The game also includes new features such as six cases that feed into an overarching mystery, puzzles, five new jazz tracks composed by Jared Emerson-Johnson, and plenty of jokes. Sam & Max Save the World is also available on Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam.

– Finally, via Anime News Network, American TV producer Fred Ladd passed away on August 3. He was 94. Ladd was instrumental in introducing anime to North America, overseeing the localization of Tetsuwan Atom into Astro Boy in 1963. He also produced Kimba the White Lion, and was a creative consultant on DiC Entertainment’s initial English dub of Sailor Moon in the ’90s. He also also wrote on 1982’s animated series The Incredible Hulk, M.A.S.K., and Filmation’s Ghostbusters.
