In case you missed it, AWA announced the erotic sci-fi thriller “Red Light.”

– Marvel announced ‘Sabretooth War,’ a ten-part story kicking off in January’s “Wolverine” #41. Series writer Benjamin Percy will be joined by Victor LaValle — who penned Sabretooth’s last two miniseries — and artists Cory Smith and Geoff Shaw for the story, which will see Victor Creed and his army of Sabretooths come after Logan and his loved ones in the wake of ‘Fall of X.’ Smith will pencil the Wolverine-centric chapters, and Shaw will draw the ones focusing on Sabretooth. It will mark the first time the characters have fought since 2014’s “Death of Wolverine,” and that year’s crossover ‘Axis,’ where Creed became a hero for the next several years. The arc will also delve into the characters’ past, revealing major secrets about the two of them.

– Humanoids will release “Star-Crossed,” a sci-fi romance by writer Jerry Frissen (“The Metabaron”) and artist Roberto Zaghi (“Makhno: Ukrainian Freedom Fighter”). The book takes place after humanity has made first contact with an advanced alien species, and follows a CIA linguist and his alien counterpart as they fall in love. But “will No’mi and Danko’s blossoming love compromise everything they’ve been working to build between their species?” It will be released around Valentine’s Day in February 2024.

The Washington Post published “Searching for Maura,” a slightly animated comic by reporters Claire Healy & Nicole Dungca and artist Ren Galeno. It tells the story of Maura, a Filipino woman who was put on display as part of a human zoo during the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair, and activist Janna Añonuevo Langholz’s quest in recent years to have the Smithsonian repatriate a part of her brain that was stolen during an autopsy. The comic is part of a series, The Collection, chronicling the body parts Ales Hrdlicka took during the 40 years he led the physical anthropology division at the Smithsonian.

– Netflix released the trailer for the Scott Pilgrim anime series, which is now titled Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, and set to be released on November 17. The show was developed by the comic’s co-creator, Bryan Lee O’Malley, along with BenDavid Grabinski, and will bring back the cast of the 2010 film directed by Edgar Wright (who is also serving as an executive producer.) It will feature music by Anamanaguchi, who previously scored Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game, and composer Joseph Trapanese.

Warrior Nun executive producer Dean English announced in a video that the show will return as not one, but three films. The Netflix series, based on Ben Dunn’s comic “Warrior Nun Areala,” and starring Alba Baptista, was canceled after its second season last year, resulting in a intense fan campaign to save the show. It was not stated how the films would be distributed or who would release them, with English explaining further decisions will not be made until after the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes are resolved.

– Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is receiving a DLC, Dimension Shellshock, which will add “Usagi Yojimbo” protagonist (and frequent TMNT guest star) Miyamoto Usagi, and Shredder’s daughter Karai, as playable characters. The DLC will see the pair join the ninja turtles in a new survival mode, and retail for $7.99 on the PC (via Steam), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, on Thursday, August 31.

– Finally, in an interview with Publishers Weekly, “Persepolis” creator Marjane Satrapi confirmed that she is no longer a cartoonist. “It’s not challenging anymore because I know how to do it,” she said. “My life is about the search, not getting comfortable. I like the chaos. I’m not going to live another 300 years. I have to explore everything I can before dying.” Satrapi made the comments while discussing the 20th anniversary of her memoir’s English release. Her last comic was “Le Soupir (The Sigh),” which was published in France in 2004, three years before the film version of “Persepolis” (which she directed with Vincent Paronnaud) was released; she has since concentrated on filmmaking.
