In case you missed it, Marvel have announced two new limited series: “The Thing” from Walter Mosley and Tom Reilly, and “Hawkeye: Kate Bishop” from Marieke Nijkamp and Enid Balám. Meanwhile, Image Comics are launching Chip Zdarsky and Jacob Phillips’s “Newburn,” and Matthew Rosenberg and Tyler Boss’s “What’s the Furthest Place From Here?” We also had an exclusive preview of next week’s “Avengers Annual” #1, the final issue in Jed Mackay’s ‘Infinite Destinies’ arc, and spoke to Christopher Golden and Matt Smith about the “Hellboy: The Bones of Giants” adaptation.

– Archie Comics is plotting out a new direction for their line, doubling down on its investment in horror books. Via Newsarama, new lead editor Jamie L. Rotante is starting off with a sequel to last year’s “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Presents Madam Satan” one-shot. The horror anthology “Chilling Adventures in Sorcery” brings back that anthology’s creators Eliot Rahal and Julius Ohta, plus a long list of additional creators including Amy Chu, Evan Stanley, Vincenzo Federici, Derek Charm, Evan Stanley, Pat and Tim Kennedy, Matt Herms, and Jack Morelli. The story will find Madam Satan as the new queen of Hell, acting as a host for a series of stories across the Archie universe in the vein of Rod Serling on The Twilight Zone. This new announcement comes following the news that the publisher is resurrecting the long delayed “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” series with issue #9, pairing it with the release of a comic continuation of the book’s Netflix adaptation called “The Occult World of Sabrina.” “Chilling Adventures in Sorcery” #1 conjures its spooky stories just after Halloween on November 3.

– BOOM! Studios has announced the new miniseries “Getting Dizzy” from their BOOM! Box imprint by “Super Hero Girls” writer Shea Fontana, and “Juliet Takes a Breath” artist Celia Moscote. Via School Library Journal, the book follows a young girl named Dizzy whose attempts to be the best have only brought her disaster. When the Negatrixes attack, Dizzy is forced to take on the super-powered roller skating mantle of ‘Burb Defender, assembling “the coolest skating crew the ‘Burbs have ever seen” to take on the new threat. The YA series will feature a main cover by Moscote, as well as variant covers by Cara McGee and Miguel Mercado. “Getting Dizzy” #1 skates into comic shops this November.

– Marvel has unveiled the next anthology in their ongoing ‘Marvel Voices’ line. “Marvel’s Voices: Heritage” #1 will spotlight Indigenous and First Nations stories and characters, featuring “rising and renowned talent from Indigenous communities as they each tell new stories surrounding some of Marvel’s most iconic and beloved characters.” The book will feature bestselling author Rebecca Roanhorse focusing on River, a character from her upcoming series “Phoenix Song: Echo,” as well as a new Snowguard story from the character’s co-creator Nyla Innuksuk. Pencilers David Cutler and Jim Terry are on board for the issue, with more creators to be announced at a later date. Purépecha artist Maria Wolf will provide a line of variant covers for the issue. “Marvel’s Voices: Heritage” hits shelves in November.

– Netflix has dropped a trailer for the upcoming He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. A CG animated series that is geared for a younger audience than Kevin Smith’s recent miniseries Masters of the Universe: Revelation, He-Man follows the titular prince as he discovers the powers of Grayskull and does battle with the evil Skeletor. The reboot is based on the popular franchise-launching cartoon of the same name, which ran from 1983-1985; that sets it apart from Smith’s series, which is instead billed as a direct sequel to the ’80s cartoon. The franchise is based on Mattel’s Masters of the Universe toy line, which has spawned numerous comic book adaptations over the years, including a current series from Dark Horse that serves as a prequel for Smith’s series. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe premieres on Netflix on September 16.

– Titan Comics has announced the new comic series “Doctor Who: Empire of the Wolf.” The new book will find the Eighth Doctor and the Eleventh Doctor (played by Paul McGann and Matt Smith, respectively) teaming up with fan-favorite companion Rose Tyler (originally played by Billie Piper) to defeat the warmongering Bad Wolf Empress. The series comes from the returning “Doctor Who” creative team of writer Jody Houser, artist Roberta Ingranata, and colorist Enrica Angiolini, and will feature variant covers by David Busian, Abigail Harding and Christopher Jones. “Doctor Who: Empire of the Wolf” #1 is due out November 3.

– Star-Lord will be getting his name from an unusual place in the upcoming video game Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Via CBR, the version of the hero in Eidos-Montréal’s upcoming game will be drawing inspiration from a fictional band of the same name, and the studio has gone so far as to record an entire album of original music for the game. The studio’s Senior Audio Director Steve Szczepkowski has provided the vocals for the band Star-Lord’s lead singer after a creative director heard his recorded vocals for the first track, “Space Riders with No Names.” Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy arrives on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC on October 26.

– Just after this week’s T’Challa-centric episode of the Disney+ series What If, Marvel has revealed a tease of what’s to come in that character’s upcoming sequel film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Via ComicBook.com, Kevin Feige shared the news that Riri Williams (played by actress Dominique Thorne) will make her first appearance in the film ahead of her own Disney+ series Ironheart. A relatively new character who first appeared in the 2016 “Invincible Iron Man” series from Brian Michael Bendis and David Marquez, Ironheart was confirmed to be leading her own series back at the Disney Investor Day meeting in December of last year. A legacy character who takes over the role of Iron Man after Tony Stark is incapacitated, Riri Williams is a 15-year-old Chicagoan who builds her own Iron Man-style armor after being accepted to MIT. Thorne joins a returning cast including Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, and Angela Bassett as well as fellow newcomer Michaela Coel. The Ryan Coogler-directed film hits theaters July 8, 2022.

– Finally, the Alan Moore-penned film The Show will be available to watch by viewers in the United Kingdom as part of Arrow Video FrightFest. The film, which also co-stars the “Watchmen” and “V for Vendetta” writer, follows Fletcher Dennis (Tom Burke), a mysterious man who finds himself dealing with vampires, voodoo gangsters, and masked avengers on his mission to locate a stolen artifact for a client. The film is directed by Mitch Jenkins, who previously collaborated with Moore on the short film anthology Show Pieces. UK viewers can preorder their tickets for the livestream here, which will take place on September 1, 2021 at 6:00 pm local time.
