In case you missed it, Titan Comics have announced that they will be relaunching their Doctor Who comic book series as “Doctor Who Comic,” and comiXology have announced “40 Seconds.” We also have exclusive previews of “Vampire: The Masquerade” #2 and “Aero” #10.

'Thor' #9 variant
by Jeffrey Veregge

– Marvel have announced that in celebration of indigenous peoples, and building off of yesterday‘s “Marvel’s Voices: Indigenous Voices” #1 announcement, artist Jeffrey Veregge will produce a series of variant covers going on sale in November. The Native American Heritage Tribute variant covers will showcase Dani Moonstar, Black Panther, Spider-Man, Black Widow, Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, and Thor in Veregge’s iconic artistic Formline style. The variants will span across eight titles, and you can view them here.

– Newsarama reports that Mike Hawthorne will join Chip Zdarksy on “Daredevil” beginning with issue #24. Hawthorne is best known for his extended run on “Deadpool” with writer Gerry Duggan, he’s also worked on “Queen & Country,” “G.I. Joe,” “Conan the Barbarian,” “Fear Agent,” and “Immortal Hulk.” “Daredevil” #24 is solicited for release on November 25, 2020.

– Via AIPT, Image’s “Protector” will get a new title, “First Knife,” when it’s collected into a graphic novel. Written by Simon Roy and Daniel M. Bensen with art by Artyom Trakhanov and Jason Wordie, and lettering by Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou, the series is described as an environmental sci-fi adventure that’s equal parts Conan the Barbarian, Nausicaä, and Zardoz. “First Knife” will collect issues #1-5 of the “Protector” series, and will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, and in bookstores on Tuesday, October 13 2020.

– Via The Hollywood Reporter, Mackenzi Lee is set to continue exploring the teenage years of the Marvel Universe with the second in her three-book YA deal with Disney Publishing. Gamora & Nebula: Sisters in Arms will explore the history of the two sisters, with a tale set long before Gamora even considered working a career spent saving the lives of others. The Hollywood Reporter has an interview with Lee that can be found here.

– Matt Reeves tweeted the logo for his film, The Batman starring Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz. Reeves’s tweet reads, “Excited to share the very first look at our official #TheBatman logo, and some very cool additional #DCFanDome artwork by the amazing @JimLee — see more of #TheBatman at the #DCFanDome global event in the Hall of Heroes this Saturday, 8/22!” Check out the official logo for The Batman here.

– In other Batman news, Vanity Fair reports that Ben Affleck will reprise his role as Bruce Wayne in Andy Muschietti’s The Flash. This news will not disrupt Matt Reeves’s The Batman, as Robert Pattinson will helm the future of the franchise, while Michael Keaton will still reprise the role of his Batman in The Flash. The film, which will adapt the “Flashpoint” event, is planned for release in summer 2022. You can also check out a new teaser for the Snyder cut of Justice League at Deadline.

– And in the final piece of Justice League news, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that WarnerMedia is investigating Cyborg actor Ray Fisher’s claims of abuse on the set of Justice League from Joss Whedon, Geoff Johns and Jon Berg. Such an investigation is said to be standard practice following allegations about poor behavior on a set, with an insider stressing that the company is not pre-judging Whedon, Johns or Berg, and the inquiry is not limited to the three men. WarnerMedia is not giving a timeline for the investigation to be complete, and is conducting it in private.

– In an exclusive, ComicBook.com revealed two of Square Enix’s Marvel’s Avengers main villains. ComicBook.com has a first look at M.O.D.O.K. and Monica Rappaccini, as well as an interview with the actors who voice them, Usman Ally and Jolene Andersen, respectively. The interview points out that “we’ve seen M.O.D.O.K. in other shows and projects before, though Marvel’s Avengers take isn’t going to be as extreme as some of those other interpretations.” Marvel’s Avengers will be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC September 4, 2020.

– Via The Hollywood Reporter, Amblin Partners will adapt comics “American Reaper” and “Reaper Files” for the big screen. The strip by Pat Mills and Clint Langley, originally published in “Judge Dredd Megazine,” was set in a near-future where the aging elite, called “snatchers,” prey upon the young, paying to hijack their bodies in order to prolong their own lives. The studio will partner with Doctor Sleep producers Intrepid Pictures to develop and produce the project, with Amblin financing. Ciarán Foy is set to direct and co-write a script with Kyle Ward.

– Finally, Deadline reports that J.C. Chandor (A Most Violent Year) is in talks to direct Sony’s Kraven the Hunter, the latest film to gain momentum in the studio’s Universe of Marvel Characters. Matt Tolmach and Avi Arad will produce. Sony is continuing to build a development slate of Spider-Man characters to rival other studios’ comic book movies: the studio recently set S.J. Clarkson to direct its untitled Madame Web flick, and tapped Marc Guggenheim to write its Jackpot movie, while it was announced that Olivia Wilde would be directing an untitled Marvel movie for Sony centered around a female character, widely believed to be Spider-Woman.
