– For the 50th anniversary of the classic Batman series from the 60’s, DC’s releasing a new animated movie called Batman: The Return of the Caped Crusader whose trailer you can check out here. This film features the return of classic cast members such as Adam West, Burt Ward, and the poor bastard who had to paint over Caesar Romero’s mustache.
– Lionsgate is going to create an adaptation of Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti’s “Monolith”, a 2005 maxi-series about a girl who discovers a golem in her grandmother’s Brooklyn apartment’s basement. I found a gun in my grandmother’s apartment, so I guess it can always be worse.
– Naian Gonzalez Norvind has been cast as Alice Tetch for the next season of Gotham. Alice Tetch is the sister to classic Batman rival Jervis Tetch AKA The Mad Hatter. Like most people, I don’t really have much to say about The Mad Hatter but this feels like a good moment to reflect on how Gotham‘s version of Batman is only like twelve years old and James Gordon is already fighting Azrael and The Court of Owls. What a weird show.
– Stan Lee weighed in on the controversey surrounding Zendaya being cast as Mary Jane Watson in Spider-Man: Homecoming, saying that he expects that Zendaya will be “absolutely wonderful” in the part. Steve Ditko tried to get a word in but everyone in the room just kind of stayed quiet until he left.
– Daredevil star Charlie Cox revealed something interesting about Luke Cage and where it’s located in the Netflix timeline. While shooting scenes with Rosario Dawson (who appears in every Netflix Marvel show like a pacifist Nick Fury) Cox noticed a cut in Dawson’s eyebrow. Cox was told the cut has something to do with what happens in Luke Cage which means that Cage takes place during Daredevil‘s second season which in turn takes place after Jessica Jones (I think?) It’s pretty wild to see how detailed Marvel is being about the content of their properties, even if I have a hard time believing that Jessica Jones and Agetns of SHIELD take place in the same world.
