In case you missed it, we have an exclusive preview of “Black Beacon” #2 by Ryan K. Lindsay, Sebastián Piriz and R.G. Llarena.

– Via Polygon, Dark Horse have announced the graphic novel “Critical Role: The Mighty Nein Origins – Nott The Brave,” written by Sam Maggs, Matthew Mercer and Sam Riegel with art by William Kirkby and colors from Mildred Louis. The fourth in ‘The Mighty Nein Origins’ series, it will tell the story of the halfling rogue party member who was cursed into becoming a goblin.

Dark Horse’s official synopsis reads, “Veth Brenatto doesn’t have an exciting life, but she likes it that way. Unlike her childhood, it’s safe. Predictable. And her husband and son love her as fiercely as she loves them. But Veth’s cozy existence is turned on its head when she and her family are captured by raiders. In order to save them, Veth will commit an atrocity that will sever her from all that she loves — maybe forever — and lead her to become Nott the Brave of the Mighty Nein.” “Critical Role: The Mighty Nein Origins – Nott The Brave” will release on April 6, 2022, and is available for pre-order now.

– In an exclusive from ComicBook.com, BOOM! Studios have announced the writer of the newly announced “Power Rangers Universe” is Nicole Andelfinger. Andelfinger joins artist Simone Ragazzoni, and will explore the origin of the Phantom Ranger. “I’m so honored and excited to be a part of ‘Power Rangers Universe’ and can’t wait to help expand the universe just a bit more for fans new and old to enjoy,” she said. “Power Rangers Universe” #1 hits comic stores in December 2021, with a main cover by Dan Mora.

– Via Twitter, ShortBox have announced a new horror graphic novel by Nicolette Bocalan with a working title of “The Acorn.” The story follows a trio of siblings who decide to undertake a journey to the forest where their father was last seen, a year after he went missing. “The Acorn” is slated to be released some time in 2022.

– Via First Comics News, Red 5 Comics have announced “Carriers,” a new all-ages action series. “Carriers” was created by Ben Ferrari and Erica J. Heflin, scripted by Pilot Studios, and illustrated by Jim O’Riley and Elias Martin. The all-ages book follows a group of carrier pigeons who protect New York city from talking alligators, pirate animals, and invading Mafioso falcons. “I’ve been a fan of stories like this since I was a kid watching afternoon cartoons, and I think a lot of new young readers are going to look at Carriers the way I did with the adventure stories I grew up with,” Red 5 co-publisher Joshua Starnes said. “Carriers” will launch in November 2021.

– Also via First Comics News, Source Point Press and DreamWorks Animation have announced “Felix the Cat” #1, written by Mike Federali and drawn by Tracy Yardley. The official synopsis reads, “Kitty Kat, Roc Bottom, Inky, Winky and all your classic favorites have gathered for Felix the Cat day, a celebration of everyone’s favorite feline, but the festivities are interrupted when Xilef the Extraordinary tries to steal Felix’s Magic Bag! Can Felix win Xilef’s three challenges, or will he have to say goodbye to Baggie for good?” “Felix the Cat” is the latest in a series of initiatives Source Point Press is taking to expand its kids’ line of comics, and will be available in 2022.

– Via Deadline, Jake Gyllenhaal is set to produce and star in Oblivion Song, a film based on the comic series by Robert Kirkman and Lorenzo De Felici. Kirkman and De Felici’s original series tells the story of Nathan Cole, a man who makes daily trips to try and rescue those still living in the apocalyptic hellscape of Oblivion, a part of Philadelphia lost a decade ago, along with 300,000 of its citizens. Jake Gyllenhaal will produce with Riva Marker via his Nine Stories, along with Kirkman, David Alpert, Bryan Furst and Sean Furst of Skybound Entertainment, and Brian Oliver and Bradley Fischer of New Republic Pictures.

– Finally, via Deadline, twelve-year-old Celina Smith, a cast member of Tyler Perry’s Young Dylan on Nickelodeon, has landed the title role of NBC’s Annie Live!, the upcoming holiday production of the classic Broadway musical. Smith joins the NBC production’s previously cast Taraji P. Henson as Miss Hannigan, Harry Connick Jr. as Daddy Warbucks, Nicole Scherzinger as Grace, and Tituss Burgess as Rooster. In a statement, Smith said “It’s an honor to follow in the footsteps of the talented young ladies who have played Annie before me and I can’t wait to start this journey.” Annie Live! will air on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 8 p.m.
