– ComiXology co-founder and CEO David Steinberger unveiled major changes to the digital comics service. In a letter, Steinberger revealed that while the app is being revamped with new navigation features and integration with Prime Reading and Kindle Unlimited, the website itself will be shut down, and the URL will simply redirect to the comic storefront of the Amazon website proper. Steinberger has asked all comiXology subscribers to merge their accounts with their Amazon account, providing a link to do so. The changeover is set for sometime this Fall.

– In other Amazon news, the company has released a music video for the new hit single by The Boys‘ own A-Train. The song is performed by Jesse T. Usher, who portrays the speedster in the Amazon Prime superhero series, with Aimée Proal providing additional vocals. The music was written by Christopher Lennertz, who wrote the lyrics alongside Isaac Lucas, Colton Fisher, Rebecca Sonnenshine, and Usher himself. The video can be watched here.

– After securing the film rights to fantasy graphic novel “Sorcerority” earlier this year, Gamechanger Productions is partnering with Gabrielle Union’s I’ll Have Another Productions and Taraji P. Henson’s TPH Entertainment to produce the feature adaptation. Created by Mikhail Sebastian and George Watson, “Sorcerority” follows Melanie, an African-American girl, who enrolls into a historically Black college of magic and coven. Gamechanger founder Effie T. Brown with produce on behalf of her company, with Union and Kian Brown representing I’ll Have Another, and Christine Conley joining Henson from TPH.

– DC’s animated feature Injustice now has a release date. The film, inspired by the NetheRealm Studios game Injustice: Gods Among Us, and Tom Taylor’s comics tie-in “Injustice: Gods Among Us: Year One,” will release on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and digital on October 19, 2021. A sneak preview will be seen during DC FanDome on Saturday, October 16.

– The UK-based Royal Mail is partnering with DC to produce 18-themed stamps featuring classic heroes and villains. The stamps will feature artwork from artist Jim Cheung, with colors from Laura Martin. The stamps themselves will largely feature characters from “Batman,” with 12 stamps dedicated to Caped Crusader and his allies and enemies. The other six will depict members of the Justice League. The line will be available starting September 17.

– 2K and Firaxis released a gameplay trailer for the upcoming tactical RPG Marvel’s Midnight Suns, as well as a further deep dive, revealing its card-based combat and hub-based character dialogue. Midnight Suns will see players will take the role of an ancient hero called “The Hunter,” the lost child of Lilith (herself resurrected by HYDRA), and build an team of Marvel heroes including members of the Avengers and Runaways. It is due for release in March 2022 for PC and Nintendo Switch, as well as Xbox and PlayStation consoles.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star Jane Krakowski has joined the cast of NBC’s Annie Live!, scheduled to air on December 2 at 8pm ET/PT. Krakowski will portray Lily St. Regis, and joins a cast that includes Schmidt co-star Tituss Burgess, Harry Connick Jr., and Celina Smith. In addition to her TV work, Krakowski has an extensive stage resume that includes She Loves Me, Grand Hotel, Company and Once Upon a Mattress.

– Finally, the 2021 Ignatz Award nominees have been announced. The awards, presented traditionally at the Small Press Expo, are meant to acknowledge excellence in small press and indie comics. The ceremony can be watched via livestream on SPX’s YouTube on September 18, at 8pm EST. The awards will be judged by Sunmi, Nguyên Khôi Nguyễn, and Daniel Elkin.
