In case you missed it, Scholastic Graphix announced “I Survived,” a series of graphic novel adaptations of Lauren Tarshis’s novels of the same name, while Marvel announced a prose novel deal with Scholastic itself. We also talked to James Tynion IV and Eric Harburn about their new series, “Something Is Killing the Children.”

– The Humble Bundle have a launched a new “Red Sonja” themed bundle, which includes ‘Petitioning the Queen,’ an exclusive new one-shot by writers Mark Russell and Bryce Ingman, artist Craig Rousseau, colorist Dearbhla Kelly and letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou. Mirko Colak provided the cover art. It tells the story of Red Sonja facing up to a pair of magical dwarves causing havoc as she prepares for a massive war. It takes place between the events of “Red Sonja” #1 and #2, with Russell promising that the one-shot introduces characters “who will appear much later in the series.” A portion of the proceeds made from sales of the bundle will be donated to the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund and the National Coalition Against Censorship. The Red Sonja Humble Bundle is available to buy right now for a limited time.

– The first two limited edition items for Local Comic Shop Day have been announced as the “Mighty Morphin Power Ranger Shattered Grid” LCSD 2019 Blind Box Set, and the “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Year One and Two” Hardcover Bundle. The blind box set will include “MMPR Shattered Grid Deluxe Hardcover,” an exclusive LCSD variant cover of “MMPR” #42, and two surprise “MMPR” variants. It will be limited to 500 units. The “MMPR” Year One and Two Hardcover bundle will include the two hardcovers with exclusive variants by Goni Montes and be limited to 750 units. Local Comic Shop Day will be held on November 23.

– Abrams ComicArts announced their Spring 2020 line-up, which includes Derf Backderf’s previously announced “Kent State: Four Dead in Ohio,” which is due out in April. Also announced for May were Marvel Value Stamps, which reproduces the special stamps that ran in the company’s comics from 1974 to 1975, and “Marvel Comics Mini-Books,” a reprint of the tiny comics that were sold in gumball machines in the mid-1960s. – Veteran comic book critics Daniel Elkin, Alex Hoffman, Rob Clough, and Ryan Carey announced that they are starting a non-profit publisher called Fieldmouse Press. The first project for the publisher will be a website called SOLRAD, which will publish new comics alongside criticism, essays and interviews. Elkin is set to serve as the president of Fieldmouse Press, with Hoffman taking the role of secretary/treasurer while Carey and Clough make up the remainder of the board of directors for the publisher. In a statement, Hoffman said their goal for the publisher is to create a”space for readers, artists, and the general public to explore the comic arts in the many forms they come in.” SOLRAD is scheduled to launch in January 2020.

– Tom Taylor (“DCeased”) started teasing a new project he is working on for DC Comics with artist Bruno Redondo (“Injustice 2”) with the reveal of a design for a character called Thylacine. Taylor tagged the tweet with the hashtag #SquadGoalsDC and promised that there is “More to come… in later days.”

– The nominees for the 2019 People’s Choice Awards were announced and amongst those were a multitude of comic book adaptations and their stars, such as Avengers: Endgame and two of its male leads, Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth. Voting for the winners of the awards can be done through the official Awards website, via Twitter or on Xfinity X1 for select categories. The voting window is currently open until Friday October 18 at 11:59pm ET, with votes that are cast on Tuesdays in the window being counted twice. The winners of the 2019 People’s Choice Awards will be announced during a ceremony on November 10, live on E!. You can read the full list of nominees in their respective categories here.

– Finally, Warner Bros. have confirmed to Digital Spy the first look at Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) will be attached to IT Chapter Two, and like the trailer for Christopher Nolan’s Tenet, it will not be released online. IT Chapter Two releases in theaters tomorrow.
