– “Strangers in Paradise,” the long running, critically acclaimed comic by Terry Moore, has been optioned to be made into a film. Angela Robinson (Professor Marsten and the Wonder Woman) and Moore will be adapting the book together, presumably with Robinson attached to direct, although that was not part of the announcement.

– The first image of David Harbour as Hellboy in the upcoming film reboot was tweeted out today by the film’s official handle and…well, it looks exactly like how Ron Pealman looked as Hellboy. Obviously, a single image can be misleading, but it appears that the makeup and costuming is very similar, and Harbour is totally unrecognizable in the photo. Mike Mignola verified its authenticity on Twitter as well. No release date has been set yet.

– “Judas,” a new BOOM! series by Jeff Loveness (“Nova”) and Jakub Rebelka (“Namesake”), takes a look at the biblical figure/Christ betrayer through a sympathetic lens. Judas is no stranger to comics, as DC’s The Phantom Stranger, as part of the New 52, was revealed to be Judas himself. The first issue drops on December.

– Aubrey Sitterson, writer of IDW’s “GI Joe” comic, made some comments about 9/11 – a cluster of words that rarely ends will – and is getting lots of heat from Joe fans, as well as some less than supportive words from IDW itself. Protests and boycotts are planned, unless Sitterson is removed from the book. Sitterson essentially said that unless you lost someone in 9/11 or were at one of the sites where planes went down, you have no right/reason to talk about it.

– For a few moments today, the entire Previews catalog for December was online accidentally, before being taken down. While a few bits of interesting news broke because of this, it wasn’t the catastrophic (in the hyperbolic world of comics journalism) event that may have been.

– In part due to that aforementioned mix up, a number of Marvel titles/concepts were announced today, including the ‘true’ point behind “Marvel Two in One” (a Richards family search party), the return of Phoenix, and a new character’s debut.

– James Tynion IV and Freddie Williams II are returning to the world of Batman and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for a new 6 issue miniseries, launching in December. Also, Bane!

– Here’s a sentence never considered possible before 2017: The co-writer of The Expendables has joined Patty Jenkins and Geoff Johns to work on the Wonder Woman 2 script. Dave Callaham has worked on Godzilla and The Wolfman earlier in his career as well.

– And, finally, Carla “Speed” McNeil will be drawing an “Empowered” spinoff later this year, titled “Empowered and Sistah Spooky’s High School Hell.”
