– “James Bond” and “Dejah Thoris” are back at Dynamite Entertainment this December.
– Marvel is returning to the world of 2099 in series of new one-shots.
– IDW announced “The Kill Lock,” a six-issue, creator-owned series from “Transformers” artist Livio Ramondelli; “I Can Sell You a Body,” a four-issue series from writer Ryan Ferrier and artist George Kambadais; and “Dying is Easy,” a five-issue series from writer Joe Hill and artist Martin Simmonds.
And in the rest of the day’s news:
– StarWars.com revealed that a special one-shot, titled “Star Wars: Empire Ascendant,” will serve as a bookend to the long-running Marvel “Star Wars” series that ends this November. The one-shot’s creative team will include writers Charles Soule, Greg Pak, Simon Spurrier, and Ethan Sacks, as well as artists Luke Ross and Roland Boschi. The book releases in December.
– Image released their December solicitations, and with them came the reveal of the one-shot “Hack/Slash 15th Anniversary Celebration,” which features a writing credit from our very own Greg Ellner. He informed us he contributed “some number crunches and statistics” about the series, “issue by issue, on a number of infographics.” The anthology, overseen by creator, writer and artist Tim Seeley will be released December 11.
– “Svengoolie Meets the DC Universe” this October, in a series of two-page comics that will appear in DC books throughout the month. The bits will be co-written by MeTV’s master of horror himself and DC Publisher Dan DiDio, with art from Chris Jones. DC has more on the promotion.
– On Twitter, “Ironheart” author Eve Ewing confirmed that the title will be in ending in November with issue 12, but she’s “not going anywhere, and neither is Riri. [W]e’re shifting gears and we will be back. quite soon.”
– Also on Twitter, “Spell on Wheels” writer Kate Leth revealed the sequel will be released straight-to-trade instead of single issues due to low pre-orders. “I didn’t even know the street date yet and we hadn’t even started our marketing push. I dunno what to say,” she said.
– In Super-family casting news, DC announced the voice cast of the upcoming Superman: Red Son animated movie; The CW’s Supergirl is set to add Cara Buono (Stranger Things) and Mitch Pileggi (The X-Files) as “JLA” baddies Gamemnae and Rama Khan; and Tom Welling will reprise his role as Clark Kent in this year’s Arrowverse crossover “Crisis on Infinite Earths.”
– Rumble, the animated adaptation of Rob Harrell’s “Monster on the Hill,” will star Will Arnett, Terry Crews, and Geraldine Viswanathan, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The movie, which will also feature the voices of Tony Danza, Ben Schwartz, Becky Lynch and Roman Reigns, is planned for a summer 2020 release.
– Finally, Anime News Network reports a manga called “Assassin’s Creed: China” will be published in Shogakukan’s Sunday GX magazine next month. The comic is from the “Assassin’s Creed: Awakening” creative team of Takashi Yano and Kendi Oiwa, and stars Shao Jun from the Assassin’s Creed Chronicles game of the same name.
