– Kicking off, the apocalypse clock approaches midnight once again as DC has announced today that the upcoming Rebirth capstone “Doomsday Clock” will release its first issue at 11:57 PM on Tuesday November 21. The issue was solicited for release on the 22nd, but this pseudo-midnight release acts as a nod to the original “Watchmen” comic, which saw the Cold War doomsday clock tick closer to midnight which signifies imminent nuclear annihilation. “Doomsday Clock” #1 will also have a special midnight (or 11:57) variant cover and pins, lithographs, and a cake topper.

– As the DCEU continues to expand it’s becoming more and more clear that Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman will be the cornerstone akin to Robert Downey Jr.’s occupancy of the same role in the MCU. It comes as no surprise then that Gal Gadot is rumored to be a part of the Flashpoint Flash solo film along with Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen and Ray Fisher’s Cyborg. The original “Flashpoint” story in the comics saw an alternate timeline where Barry Allen tried to go back in time and prevent his mother’s murder creating a world where the Amazons, led by Wonder Woman, were at war with Atlantis and Aquaman. The title change to the film was announced back in July at SDCC, and the film currently has no director or release date following the original The Flash date of March 16, 2018. Justice League hits theaters November 17th.

– Speaking of Gal Gadot, she has also signed on to host an episode of the new season of Saturday Night Live when it comes back for the fall. Gal Gadot will host the October 7th episode with musical guest Sam Smith. This also conveniently puts her in New York for New York Comic-Con happening the same weekend which is at the same level of prominence as San Diego Comic-Con.

– Actor KJ Apa, Archie in Riverdale on The CW, was involved in a car accident last weekend following a 16-hour work day. Apa apparently fell asleep at the wheel on the 45-minute drive back to his home in Vancouver and totaled his car, but was treated for minor injuries. This has led to much anxiety from those working on the set of Riverdale and has continued a string lately of accidents in and around comic book adaptation sets including the death of a stuntman on The Walking Dead set and a fatal motorcycle crash on the set of Deadpool 2. Riverdale premieres its second season in a few weeks on October 11th and a Sabrina the Teenage Witch spinoff was recently greenlit.

– One of Image Comics newest titles, “Kill the Minotaur” from writers Christian Cantamessa and Chris Pantesso and artists Lukas Ketner and Jean-Francoise Beaulieu has been optioned for a film adaptation by Universal Pictures. Skybound, an imprint of Image managed by Robert Kirkman which produces “The Walking Dead” and “Invincible,” signed a first look deal with Universal back in 2015. “Kill the Minotaur” is a retelling of the Greek myth of Theseus’ venture in the Labyrinth and the battle against the minotaur living there. No casting announcements or release dates were made at this time.

– Gwyneth Paltrow recently reprised her role of Pepper Potts in the MCU in Spider-Man: Homecoming and has been reported to be a part of both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4. In an interview recently about the currently filming untitled Avengers 4 Paltrow let slip that War Machine actor Don Cheadle would be a part of Avengers 4 which was previously unconfirmed. At this point it would be much easier to compile a list of who is not a part of those movies (hmm that’s not a bad idea for an article…)

Loot Crate in November will contain an exclusive issue of the upcoming IDW Star Trek series, “Star Trek: The Next Generation: Mirror Broken.” The issue will explore how Data joined Captain Picard’s Stargazer years before the main title takes place and was created by regular series writers Scott and David Tipton, artist Josh Hoodand, and regular cover artist JK Woodward. The idea of the Mirror Universe in Star Trek was created in the original series and continued in a few other shows, but not TNG, and consisted of a parallel world where characters personalities and other ideas often seemed flipped. Loot Crate has previously offered exclusive issues from regualr creative teams including a previous issue of “Harley Quinn” from Jimmy Palmiotti, Amanda Conner, and Chad Hardin.

The new Cardcaptor Sakura anime has a release date finally and will premiere on January 7, 2018. Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Arc will have a new trailer air today during reruns of the original show. The original anime debuted in 1998 and was based on a manga which began in 1996. The new show is based on a new manga that premiered in June which followed Sakura Kinomoto after she graduated from elementary school. Much of the original cast members as well as director Morio Asaka will be returning for the new show.

– Rebirth has been a very unique experience in the modern age of comics as no series have yet to be cancelled. Scott Snyder’s “All-Star Batman” has been announced to reach a natural conclusion in October, but out of all the originally launched series none have yet ended. Both “Blue Beetle” and “Superwoman” have been deduced (through solicitations and creator comments) to be ending with issue #18, and with that many believed other series like “Cyborg,” “New Super-Man,” and “Batman Beyond” might be on the chopping block. “Cyborg” appears to be getting a new writer in December, and “New Super-Man” writer Gene Luen Yang tweeted today that “NSM” was originally to end at #18, but more is in store for those characters, whether that’s a new series or a continuation is unclear. But really thank god because the series, en mi opinión, has been one of the best of relaunch and I’m glad to see more of this new corner of the DCU.

– Finally, writer Alex de Campi (“Archie vs. Predator”) recently revealed on her Tumblr that her and artist Dave Acosta are teaming on a weekly fun webcomic series of Frank Castle and Buck Barnes sitting down to clean guns and watch action movies. The link to her account is here, and honestly this sounds like a fun hilarious idea so check it out!
