– Happy!, the up-coming SyFy show based on the comic by Grant Morrison and Darrick Robertson, about an ex-cop-turned-hitman who runs into serious trouble, now has Debi Mazar and Michael Maize among its cast, along with Christopher Malone as main character Nick Sax and Patton Ostwalt as the titular winged blue horse Happy. Mazar, known for her regular role on Younger, will play vengeful mother Isabella Scaramucci; Maize, known for his recurring role on Mr. Robot, will play the humorous but terrifying arms dealer Le Dic.
– SyFy’s The Expanse is getting its own graphic novel courtesy of Boom! Studios. Titled “The Expanse: Origins,” the story will be written by series creator James S. A. Corey and cover the untold adventures of the Rocinante’s crew before they came together. Releasing in February 2018, the graphic novel will also include the four-issue-digital-only run by show writers Hallie Lambert and Georgie Lee and artist Huang Danlan.
– The CW’s grand Arrowverse crossover between its four super shows has begun production and been given the title ‘Crisis on Earth-X.” Airing over two nights (November 27 and 28), the crossover has been commissioned a custom comic book cover by Phil Jimenez that pays homage to annual “Justice League/Justice Society” crossovers.
– Speaking of ‘Crisis on Earth-X,’ Quantico actor Russell Tovey has been chosen to play gay superhero The Ray in the upcoming crossover. Not only that, he will also voice The Ray on The CW Seed’s animated digital series Freedom Fighters: The Ray, which will feature a more modern Ray as introduced in “The Multiversity” series.
– Following the recent news of Riverdale star K.J. Apa’s car crash after a 16-hour work day, Warner Bros. has stated that the conditions on set are not a danger and that they periodically remind everyone that transportation can be provided for them if needed, as well as hotel accommodations. SAG-AFTRA said they will be investigating the set in Vancouver to ensure their performers are safe in their surroundings.
– French comics company Media Participations is buying La Martiniere Groupe, the seventh largest French publisher. This includes US publisher Abrams Edition, which could give the publisher the chance to expand into the US and UK markets via translated work.
