– Kicking off, the Eisner Award-winning “Black Hammer” recently went on hiatus to make room for “Sherlock Frankenstein & The Legion of Evil,” a spinoff series from series writer Jeff Lemire and artist David Rubín. When it returns in April 2018 it will be relaunched as “Black Hammer: Age of Doom” with the same creative team of Lemire and Dean Ormston. “Black Hammer” has continued to pay tribute to the history of the comic book medium and Lemire stated in a press release that in an age where” superhero universes seem to be rebooted, relaunched, and rebirthed every year,” this route makes sense.

Yesterday the news of an “Avengers” weekly series at Marvel broke titled “Avengers: No Surrender” which seemed to encompass characters from all the current “Avengers” titles including “Uncanny Avengers” and “U.S.Avengers.” More details released today revealed that the latter two “Avengers” titles will end for at least the duration of this three-month event which will be co-written by the current writers of the three titles Mark Waid, Jim Zub, and Al Ewing. Pepe Larraz will provide art for the first month, with Kim Jacinto on board for the second and Paco Medina batting clean-up. The series will also bring back Jarvis and Avenger Living Lightning (now just Lightning) in key ways while also putting the teased character Voyager at the forefront.

A new poster for ABC and Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD was revealed today and may provide new evidence for where the series is headed in its fifth season. The poster offers a sizable clue that the new season is headed to space, which falls in line with where Agent Coulson found himself at the end of last season. Many people posit that the Marvel organization SWORD will make its debut and bring returning character Lance Hunter with them. The season will debut some time in the winter following the conclusion of Inhumans.

The Flash solo film, given the subtitle of Flashpoint at SDCC this last summer, appears to have a new script from writer Joby Harold. The film originally had a release date of March 16, 2018, but has gone through three directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, Seth Grahame-Smith, and Rick Famuyiwa, and is currently directorless, but the new script signals that the film is moving forward. Robert Zemeckis is currently in talks to direct and the film recently added Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman.

Kyanna Simone Simpson (The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks) is set to join The CW’s Black Lightning in a recurring role. Simpson will play Kiesha, best friend of Jennifer Pierce, who is the daughter of their high school principal Jefferson Pierce, who is also the titular superhero Black Lightning. Black Lightning will premiere sometime in 2018.

– Does Miles Morales exist in the MCU? One deleted scene from Spider-Man: Homecoming suggests this is the case. The scene showcases Donald Glover’s character Aaron Davis, Spider-Man villain the Prowler and uncle to Miles Morales, while he is webbed to his car after he meets with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. Davis is on the phone with someone and says “I’m sorry, Miles – I’m not going to make it. Yeah I’m just stuck.” This could just be a fun easter egg, but leaves open the possibility of the character’s appearance. Spider-Man: Homecoming comes out on digital September 26 and releases on Blu-Ray and 4K October 7th.

Tom King and Jason Fabok seem to have a new mystery DC project in the works, both taking to Twitter today to tease the collaboration. King tweeted first showcasing a picture of what looks like Fabok’s art saying “Sneak peak at a new (secret) thing,” before Fabok tweeted out a picture of snow he drew with a similar caption. Could Fabok be providing art for the “Mister Miracle” interlude or is there something more?

– SyFy released a brand new short teaser for their upcoming series Happy! based on the four-issue miniseries from Grant Morrison and Darick Robertson. The show’s release date was recently pushed back a week to December 6th which is still just in time for the holidays!

A new trailer for the second episode of Batman: The Telltale Series: The Enemy Within was released today, marking the introduction of Harley Quinn into this universe and offering a role reversal for her and the Joker, known currently as John Doe. The trailer also saw the arrival of what appeared to be Bane at the end of the trailer. The second episode for the series called The Pact premieres October 3rd for PC and mobile.

– And finally, Rainforest Trust is auctioning a Zune MP3 player signed by James Gunn and many of the cast members of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 just like the Zune Peter gets at the end of the movie. Ranforest Trust is committed to protecting the world’s most threatened species and ecosystems, so if you wanna save Groot’s all over the world bid away! (or just donate cause the bidding is already at $3,200).
