– Legendary “Batman” artist Norm Breyfogle passed away at the age of 58.
– Sean Murphy confirmed a sequel to “Batman: White Knight” is in the works.
– Oni Press announced a new series, “Morning in America,” from “Kim & Kim” collaborators Magdalene Visaggio and Claudia Aguirre.
– Publisher Humanoids announced they’re bringing artist John Cassaday on as the company’s Chief Creative Officer.
– Dark Horse provided details on “Avatar: Tsu’tey’s Path,” the first comic series set in the world of James Cameron’s Avatar.
And the day also provided the following stories:
– Artist Jae Lee (“Batman/Superman”) and writer John Ney Rieber (“Captain America”) will be teaming to help flesh out the world of multi-platform franchise Unknown 9, in Dark Horse’s “Unknown 9 Archives.” Newsarama has the details.
– Scholastic revealed the cover to Sarah Graley’s (“Kim Reaper”) upcoming video game-centric graphic novel, “Glitch.” Comic Book Resources has the cover reveal and more info on the story.
– “Old Lady Harley” #1’s getting a new artist, reports Newsarama. Inaki Miranda, who was already solicited to draw the series’s second issue, will now be replacing previously-announced artist Mauricet on the book’s October 24 debut issue. Mauricet will still provide the first issue’s cover.
– The final issue of Marvel’s “Extermination” miniseries, in which the original five X-Men will likely return to the past, has been pushed from its original release date of November 28 back to December 19, reports Newsarama.
– Archaeologists in Jordan have uncovered 2000 year old comics, complete with captions and speech bubbles, inside a Roman-era tomb. The narrative scenes tell the story of the founding of Capitolias, an ancient city established in the 1st century C.E., according to The Smithsonian magazine.
– Disney XD unveiled an extended preview of Star Wars: Resistance, which begins airing October 7. Meanwhile, CBS All Access debuted a teaser for their Star Trek: Short Treks series, the first installment of which, titled “Runaways,” will be released on October 4.
– Finally, Scotland’s STV has a heartwarming report on Taylor McTaggart, an 18-year-old art student who spent a day working at The Beano‘s studios in Dundee. McTaggart lost her hands and feet to meningitis when she was just five months old. Mike Stirling, head of the Beano Studios, said “We saw her work and thought it was really good – she’s got loads of potential and is already doing really cool stuff.”
