— BOOM! Studios announced “Goldie Vance: Larceny in La La Land,” a new graphic novel from writer Jackie Ball and artist Mollie Rose. Available July 2020, it follows teen detective Goldie Vance as she and her friends embark on a brand new mystery in Los Angeles.

— J.C. Lee, daughter of Stan Lee, is reinvigorating a suit against POW! Entertainment, alleging that her late father’s intellectual property was stolen from 2001 onward. Before Stan Lee passed away in November, he originated the $1 billion suit against POW, alleging that POW executives took advantage of his medical state to fraudulently convince him to sign documents or forge his signature.

— Sony and Marvel are getting the band back together! On Friday, it was announced that Marvel Studios will produce the third film in the Spider-Man: Homecoming series starring Tom Holland. It is scheduled for release on July 16, 2021. Marvel and Sony previously caused an uproar when it was revealed over the summer that the two had reached an impasse over a new financing deal, temporarily ending Holland’s involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Under the new deal, Marvel and Disney will finance 25 percent of the film’s budget in exchange for roughly a quarter of the box office.

— Artist Phillip Sevy shared on Twitter that his friend and fellow comic book artist, Tom Lyle, is in the hospital after suffering a brain aneurism. Lyle, who is 65 years old, has worked on series such as “The Amazing Spider-Man,” “The Punisher,” and “Starman.” Sevy disclosed that doctors are hopeful, but asked that fans send their good thoughts and wishes his way.

— Writer Charles Soule revealed on artist Ryan Stegman’s podcast that “Curse Words,” the series he created with Ryan Browne, has been optioned for television. Soule gave no further details, saying the company who optioned the show refuse to let the creators promote it. Meanwhile, the final issue of “Curse Words” hits stores this November 25.

— Raina Telgemeier’s graphic novel “Guts” is the #1 selling book in the U.S. this past week, according to Publishers Weekly’s charts. Coming in at #3 is “Dog Man: For Whom the Ball Rolls” by Dav Pilkey.

— Marvel renamed its upcoming “Marvel Zombies: Respawn” series to “Marvel Zombies: Resurrection” for unspecified reasons according to a notice sent to retailers. The first issue is due out October 30.

— Warner Bros. Entertainment is restricting access to the U.S. premiere of Joker. According to Variety, Warner Bros. is only allowing photographers to attend its red carpet in an effort to restrict access to interviews. This comes after the movie made headlines for being violent and provocative following its screenings over the summer.

— Now for some directorial news: according to an exclusive from The Hollywood Reporter, Deborah Chow will direct the Obi-Wan Kenobi-focused Star Wars series starring Ewan McGregor, which will live on Disney+. Also, Michael Cudlitz, who starred as Abraham Ford on The Walking Dead, will return to direct episodes of the untitled third The Walking Dead series, which debuts in Spring 2020.

— Finally, in an exclusive with TV Line, it was announced that Ashley Scott will appear in the five-episode Arrowverse crossover, “Crisis on Infinite Earths.” Scott will reprise her role as Huntress a.k.a. Helena Kyle, who she played on DC’s short-lived Birds of Prey. And in other Arrowverse news, Brandon Routh’s Superman costume for the crossover was revealed.
