– Marvel have announced “Ghost Rider: Kushala” #1. The Marvel Unlimited exclusive follows the Sorcerer Supreme of the 1800s, who is a Ghost Rider-turned-Spirit Rider, and is co-written by Taboo, a founding member of the Black Eyed Peas, and B. Earl, with art by Guillermo Sanna & Vanesa del Rey, and colorist Jordie Bellaire. New issues of the eight-part series will be available on the Marvel Unlimited app every Thursday, the latest series in the Infinity Comics lineup. “Ghost Rider: Kushala” #1 will be available on Marvel Unlimited Thursday October 7, 2021.
– Via Twitter, Oni Press announced several kids/young adult books including “Orcs in Space” Vol. 2 from Justin Roiland, Michael Tanner, Abed Gheith and Rashad Gheith, illustrated by François Vigneault with colors by D.J. Chavis and Dave Pender. This new volume follows Gor, Kravis, and Mongtar as they make new allies and enemies across the greater Galactigon. “Will they survive the stand-off with evil scientist Dr. Smedley before Starbleep, the Space Rats, and the rest of the orc-hating universe hunt them down?” “Orcs in Space” Vol. 2 will be available in February 2022.
Oni also announced “Jonna and the Monsters” Volume Two from Chris Samnee and Laura Samnee, with colorist Matthew Wilson. The official description reads, “With their safe haven destroyed, the girls set out again, this time following a lead to a hidden city of humans that have built a home in the shattered remnants of a mighty redwood forest. Lured by heartwarming tales of community, Rainbow and Jonna find that life in the big city can be a little confusing! Jonna finds celebrity in the monster-fighting arena, while Rainbow explores their new surroundings, searching for a bit of human kindness and not liking what she sees. Can the two keep their spirits up and their skin on as they outpunch unpossible monsters and outwit not-so-nice humans that stand in their way?” “Jonna and the Monsters” Volume Two will be available in April 2022. – Mad Cave Studios also revealed a list of their 2022 releases via ComicBook.com, including “Potions Inc.” by Erik Burnham, Natasha Alterici, and Micah Myers. The synopsis reads, “In order to save their parents and home world of Primaterra from the dangerous curse of the Fordstone, three siblings travel to Earth… Seattle circa 1992 to be exact. With the help of FBI Special Agent Genevieve Garcia, the young Primaterrans; Ran, Asteria, and Astreus Jones track down the evil Kanavin Goras and attempt to save the world… both of them.”
Mad Cave also announced “Confetti Realms” from Nadia Shammas, Karnessa, Hackto, and Micah Myers. The book follows “the story of four New Jersey teens who, after breaking into a cemetery on Halloween, get transported to a strange and fantastical world by a mysterious automaton named Tom. When Tom sends them on a quest to gain him entry to a party at the end of the world, our unlikely (and mostly unwilling) heroes will have to navigate murderous frogs, an insect orchestra, and the cracks in their own friendships.” It will be available in September 2022. – Via Axios, Substack is launching a “Writer in Residence” program that will spotlight one new creator throughout their journey in building a Substack for one month. The first writer in residence will be Adrian Tomine, an award-winning cartoonist, illustrator and writer. Substack said, “We hope that the program will encourage other writers and creators to think about different ways of creating content.” Substack says it’s selecting various writers and creators to be a part of the program ad hoc. It’s undecided how long the program will last. It’s likely the next writer in residence will begin in December.
– Rick Riordan announced a graphic novel adaptation of Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky. Written by Kwame Mbalia, and adapted by Robert Venditti with art by Olivia Stephens, the graphic novel will be available in August 2022. You can see a preview here.
Continued below– Via Deadline, The CW’s Superman & Lois will add Ian Bohen to the cast in a mult-episode arc in the show’s second season. Bohen will play Lt. Mitch Anderson, the metaphorical “new sheriff in town” at the DOD. He doesn’t like that Superman exists outside that paradigm and tries to bring the Man of Steel under his authority officially. Superman & Lois returns in 2022.
– Variety reports that Venom: Let There Be Carnage earned $90.1 million in its debut, setting a new pandemic record. Previously Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings held that record. The film also had a bigger opening weekend than its predecessor, 2018’s Venom which took in $80 million. Venom: Let There Be Carnage is in theaters now.
– Finally, a trailer for My Hero Academia: World Heroes Mission has been released. You can view it here. My Hero Academia: World Heroes Mission will be released in theaters October 29, 2021.
