In case you missed it, the winners of this year’s Harvey Awards were announced, AfterShock Comics revealed their new graphic novel “Kill A Man,” Jamie McKelvie teased his next project ”The Killing Horizon” with Image Comics, and Marvel announced the second wave of ‘Dawn of X’ will begin with ”Wolverine” by Benjamin Percy, Adam Kubert and Viktor Bogdanovic.

― DC stormed the Javits Centre last night and revealed the newest creative team on the “Sandman” spin-off “The Dreaming.” Ms. Marvel co-creator G. Willow Wilson will be collaborating with “Clockwork Angels” artist Nick Robles on the title. Previous writer Si Spurrier will be stepping away from the title to focus more on “John Constantine: Hellblazer.” It seems this was the unconfirmed project that Wilson was concluding her “Wonder Woman” run in preparation for. The new team will make their debut in March 2020 with “The Dreaming” #19.

― DC also teased “Plunge” at their House of Horror panel, revealing the series will be written by Joe Hill with art by the much praised Stuart Immonen. While the series had been previously announced earlier this year, a full creative team had remained elusive. The comic is a riff on John Carpenter’s film The Thing, and follows a team investigating a sunken research vessel in the Arctic Circle that has begun broadcasting a signal out of the blue. As they’re enveloped by snowstorms, a creature begins to stalk the group.

― At their NYCC panel, Viz Media have announced a manga adaptation of Frozen 2 and a new graphic novel set in the Star Wars universe, “Star Wars: The Legends of Luke Skywalker.” “Frozen 2: The Manga” has no creative team attached as of yet, but “Star Wars: The Legends of Luke Skywalker” will feature art from Akira Himekawa, Haruichi, Akira Fukaya, Takashi Kisaki and Subaru. Both series are set to release in early 2020, following December’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

― Cliff Chiang, the co-creator of “Paper Girls” has revealed that he’s working on an unannounced DC Black Label title. The news came in the “Paper Girls” NYCC panel. This will be his second major collaboration with DC following his extended tenure as an artist and editor on the acclaimed ‘New 52’ “Wonder Woman” run with Brian Azzarello. Chiang has not revealed any other members of his creative team or a release date for the project.

― In further Paper Girls news, Amazon are currently assembling a writers room for the TV project. Co-creators Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang spoke in depth about the project at their NYCC panel this Friday. Vaughan reassured audiences that “the story will have to change for TV, but we’re going to keep the heart of the comic,” and that a pilot is currently underway from showrunner Stephany Folsom. When quizzed on possible casting, Vaughan said he wanted four unknown actors for the mains, while Chiang said that Dev Patel would be an ideal choice for Grandfather. The series is currently in pre-production without a release date.

― Zack Snyder has once again taken to Vero to tease Justice League fans with what could have been, as he confirmed the inclusion of Martian Manhunter in his draft of the film. Snyder announced that General Calvin Swanwick — who was played by Harry Lennix in 2013’s Man of Steel — would have revealed himself as the shapeshifting J’onn J’onzz in Justice League. With the caption “This is something that you probably didn’t know,” Zack Snyder released a series of storyboards showcasing the characters transformation, discussing how he only ever got to shoot half the sequence as he hadn’t gotten time to film with Lennix in LA before leaving the project.

― As announced at The Walking Dead‘s NYCC panel, Paola Lázaro will be joining the show’s tenth season as as The Princess. Lázaro is known for her work on Lethal Weapon at FOX and Showtime’s SMILF. The inclusion of The Princess gives a good hint as to the direction of The Walking Dead, as she originally joined Michonne on her trip to the Commonwealth, which was the setting for the comic’s final arc. The show has also been renewed for an eleventh season, which will feature the return of Lauren Cohan’s Maggie Green.

― Alongside the slew of mainline Walking Dead news, audiences got their first glimpse at AMC’s third Walking Dead series. The spin-off follows the first generation born after the apocalypse as they begin to rebuild civilization and endeavor to build a legacy for themselves. The show remains untitled for now, but is set for a 2020 premiere. You can watch the trailer here.

CBS All Access have released another trailer and an official release date for Star Trek: Picard. The ten-episode season will follow Patrick Stewart’s Jean-Luc Picard as he reunites with old friends, and learns to trust new faces on a mission set to take him away from the safe family vineyard that he’s made his home since the end of Star Trek: The Next Generation. The show is set to debut on January 23rd 2020 with an episode every Thursday. A teaser trailer for Star Trek: Discovery season 3 was also released – that series’ exact return date is currently unknown.

James Dowling is probably the last person on Earth who enjoyed the film Real Steel. He has other weird opinions about Hellboy, CHVRCHES, Squirrel Girl and the disappearance of Harold Holt. Follow him @James_Dow1ing on Twitter if you want to argue about Hugh Jackman's best film to date.
