As we did during SDCC, we’re having a Rundown on a Saturday due to the amount of news coming during NYCC. This does not cover Marvel and DC news as they have their own rundowns during the convention.

– IDW are expanding their Star Wars line with “Star Wars Adventures: Forces of Destiny,” a five-issue weekly series in January. Based on the current animated webseries and toy line spotlighting the saga’s female protagonists, each issue will be respectively written by Delilah S. Dawson, Elsa Charretier, Beth Revis, Jody Houser, and Devin Grayson, with artwork by Elsa Charretier, Arianna Florean, Eva Widermann, Valentina Pinto, and Nicoletta Baldari.
– Lucasfilm also revealed Timothy Zahn is writing a sequel to his novel Thrawn, Thrawn: Alliance, which will be released next summer and feature Darth Vader. The first novel is currently being adapted by Marvel Comics.
– Titan Comics will be publishing a translation of the German comic “Babylon Berlin,” based on the novel that has been turned into a Netflix TV series. Written and illustrated by Arne Jysch, the comic follows a detective inspector during Weimar era Germany.
– Tokyopop will be translating their manga adaptations of Disney films into English. These include “Beauty and the Beast,” “Descendants,” “Stitch,” “Tangled,” “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “The Princess and the Frog” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: Jack Sparrow’s Adventures,” as well as crossover titles like “Kilala Princess” and “Magical Dance.” They also announced original titles acquired from around the world for the English market.
– Skybound announced at their panel that “Extremity” will end with its 12th issue, with creator Daniel Warren Johnson already moving onto his next project.
– Square Enix displayed Project Hikari, a VR version of the manga “Tale of Wedding Rings.” The project will be released next year for the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.
– Newcomer Hart Denton has joined the cast of Riverdale as Betty’s long-lost brother Chic. The second season starts of the CW show starts this Wednesday.
– Andrew Cosby, who penned the Hellboy film reboot, is adapting Stephan Franck’s 1992 comic “Silver.” Set in the 1930s, the comic was about a soulless conman who assembles a crew to steal an ancient silver treasure from a vampire castle.
