Art by Paolo Rivera (after Miller)

– Although not alive to see it, Bill Finger is finally acknowledged inside a Batman comic in a manner more befitting his role in the creation of that character and his setting. Is it perfect? No. Is it ever going to be perfect? Most likely not. Is this a step in the right direction? Absolutely. (Is this really Bob Kane’s tombstone? Unfortunately for mankind, yes. Did Jim Steranko punch Bob Kane? God I hope so.)

– The surprisingly calm and collected director of the Mad Max films, George Miller, says there’s likely no place for Fury Road‘s breakout character Imperator Furiosa in that movie’s upcoming sequel. This doesn’t mean we can’t see a Furiosa spinoff movie, because this is Hollywood and if there’s one thing Hollywood loves these days it’s spinoffs. This also doesn’t mean that skipping over Furiosa is a slight on the part of Miller, as these films have consistently been much laxer with movie-to-movie continuity than most other films in the action series genre.

Cartoonist Berke Breathed talks on NPR’s “Fresh Air” series about returning to his “Bloom County” comic strip after 25 years.

– In the “too bad we didn’t see this crossover back when Star Wars was still handled by Dark Horse”, I give you: SithBoy!

– The circle of Hollywood/comics life is officially reaching oroborous stage, as Paul Reubens has been tapped to play The Penguin’s father on Gotham. Reubens, aka Pee-Wee Herman, cameo’ed as the Danny-DeVito Penguin’s father in the 1992 Batman Returns film that Tim Burton directed. Tim Burton’s major Hollywood breakthrough film was, of course, Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure. I’m sure I could keep going…

Greg Matiasevich

Greg Matiasevich has read enough author bios that he should be better at coming up with one for himself, yet surprisingly isn't. However, the years of comic reading his parents said would never pay off obviously have, so we'll cut him some slack on that. He lives in Baltimore, co-hosts (with Mike Romeo) the Robots From Tomorrow podcast, writes Multiversity's monthly Shelf Bound column dedicated to comics binding, and can be followed on Twitter at @GregMatiasevich.
