– Marvel plans for January 2018 releases “Phoenix Resurrection” #1, “Avengers” #675, and “Guardians of the Galaxy” #150 to feature 3D lenticular images as the main cover of the issue. Unlike the “Legacy” covers which attempted to have a morphing image, these will have a single image with simulated depth and will not make retailers jump through quota hoops to be able to order the these lenticular versions.

– Jason Mamoa sincerely apologized for the crass off-hand comments about Science Fiction + Fantasy media and rape he made six years ago at a Game of Thrones ComicCon panel. Warner Brothers/DC Entertainment are standing with Jason Mamoa and not pulling him from any of the upcoming press events and promotional tours for Justice League.

– A.V. Club posted exclusive preview of cartoonist Leslie Stein’s new book “Presents” which will be out October 17th. Her introspective comic “Bright-Eyes at Midnight” was one of choices for best of comics for 2015. They tout her minimalistic style, her use of water-colors as well as her skill in creating simple yet evocative facial expressions.

– John Boone revealed that he envisions his New Mutants films as a horror trilogy. His inspiration for the movie pulls heavily on the Chris Claremont, Bill Seinkiewiwcz era of the “The New Mutants” comic series. He sold FOX on the trilogy he says based on the Seinkiewicz run of the series and the “idea of it being their own distinct kind of horror movie.”

– The creators behind the independent Puerto Rican American superhero comic “La Boriquēna” with artist Bill Seinkevitch created a charity T-shirt to help Rebuild Puerto Rico. All the proceeds for the sales of the shirt go to the charity Voices for Puerto Rico.

– According to Christie Marston, the granddaughter of William Marston creator of Wonder Woman, the new biopic by Angela Robinson, Professor Marston & Wonder Woman is largely fiction. The comments by his granddaughter made via Twitter reject claims made by the film and says the real story of Dr. William Moulton Marston, his polyamorous relationship with his wife, Elizabeth, Olive Byrne, and their family’s story is much more interesting.

– The Japanese really do use manga and sequential art in some very creative ways including as a response to a real world threat. The government of Hokkaido, the Northern prefecture of Japan, have produced a four page missile-evacuation instruction pamphlet with the help of local manga artist Manabu Yamamoto. The four pages cover various locations and situations and how they should respond to a missile threat from North Korea.

– “Peanuts” creator Charles Schulz house was reportedly destroyed in the fires currently tearing through Northern California. His widow Jean Schulz was safely evacuated before the blaze hit but everything in the home is lost as is the home Charles Schulz died in.

– Conrad Vernon, who co-directed Sausage Party, will be heading up the MGM production on The Addams Family animated film. Vernon has a history with CG animated films having co-directed Shrek 2, Monsters vs Aliens and Madagascar 3. “The Addams Family” originally appeared as single panel gag illustrations mainly in The New Yorker from the great Charles Adams before spawning the 1950s TV series, the 70s cartoon,  the 90s films, and the Broadway show.

AfterShock Comics is halfway through its signing tour hitting comic shops and conventions across the US bringing surprise guests like Garth Ennis, Paul Hester and Phil Jenkins. AfterShock Publisher and COO, Joe Pruett released the tour dates remaining dates and locations he is heading to as well as the names of the guests that he’ll be bringing along.
