In case you missed it, Image announced a new Joe Kelly and Ken Niimura series, “Immortal Sergeant.” We also interviewed Liz Montague about her graphic memoir, “Maybe, An Artist.”

– “DeadEndia,” the graphic novel series by Hamish Steele that formed the basis for his Netflix show Dead End: Paranormal Park, is returning to print. Union Square Kids will reprint the first two volumes (“DeadEndia: The Watcher’s Test,” and “DeadEndia: The Broken Halo”) as well as the unpublished third and final book in the series. The series was originally released by Flying Eye Books, the children’s imprint of Nobrow Press. Details on when the new edition of the series will arrive have not been given at this time.

Pretty Little Liars author Sara Shepard is making her graphic novel debut with the middle-grade tale “Penny Draws a Best Friend” next year. The book, which is being drawn by Shepard herself, “will center on fifth-grader Penny, who struggles with anxiety and finds that she’s not alone in that.” The first in an intended series, “Penny Draws a Best Friend” will be published by Putnam Books for Young Readers in May 2023.

– Phil Jimenez has relaunched his 2006 Vertigo series “Otherworld” as “The Wild Choir” on Zestworld. A sci-fi fantasy series, “Otherworld” followed a group of Los Angeles college students who were transported to the Celtic realm of the title, which was under siege from the Technocracy. The series only ran for seven of 12 intended issues as a result of Jimenez’s contract to draw “Infinite Crisis.” The first chapter is available to all of Jimenez’s paid subscribers here; issues will become free to all subscribers after a two-week window. You can also read more about “The Wild Choir” in an interview with Jimenez at Nerdist.com.

– AWA Studios announced “Trojans,” a dark, four-part fantasy series by writer Daniel Kraus (Trollhunters) and artist Laci (“Sherlock Holmes and the Vampires of London”). Set in a world where mythical creatures exist, the book follows a hacker, who’s led by a mysterious woman to uncover a society that forces these legends to do battle on the dark web. The first issue will go on sale on January 4, 2023.

– Image will publish Kelly Thompson and Meredith McClaren’s Substack series “Black Cloak” in print next year. A technomagic series, the comic follows two Black Cloaks — the keepers of order in this world — as they solve the murder of a beloved prince. The first issue will arrive in comic book stores on January 11, 2023, with digital copies continuing to remain available on Thompson’s newsletter 1979 Semi-Finalist.

– Mad Cave Studios announced “Tales from Nottingham,” an anthology special tying into David Hazan and Shane Connery Volk’s Robin Hood reimagining of the same name. Magdalene Visaggio will join the creators for the issue, which will feature five stories created in collaboration with the winners of Mad Cave’s 2021 Talent Search. It will be released on February 1, 2023.

– A short film featuring characters from Simon Hanselmann’s webcomic “Megahex” was released as part of The Paloni Show! Halloween Special on Hulu. Featuring the voices of Emma Chamberlain as Megg, Macaulay Culkin as Mogg, Jon Glaser as Werewolf Jones, and Dave Foley as Owl, the short — titled “Devil’s Night” — appears roughly 22 mins into the special. The Paloni Show! Halloween Special, created by Justin Roiland, is available to stream now.

– Sendhil Ramamurthy (The Flash, Never Have I Ever) will appear in Doom Patrol season four as the recurring villain Mr. 104. Described by HBO Max as a “charming and mysterious man of many elements,” in the comics Mr. 104 (originally Mr. 103) was the biochemist Jonathan Dubrovny, a Silver Age villain who could transform his body into any element. Doom Patrol returns on Thursday, December 8.

– Finally, Samuel L. Jackson has reprised the role of Nick Fury in a commercial for the newly released mobile card game Marvel Snap, in which he gets understandably upset (even dropping the f-bomb) about being replaced as the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. by the player. This follows two other commercials to use actors from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, namely Black Panther: Wakanda Forever: Dominique Thorne starred as Riri Williams in a Target ad designed to encourage Black girls to take an interest in STEM subjects, while Danai Gurira returned as Okoye in a Lexus RZ commercial starring the Dora Milaje.
