Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.
– We have our first teaser for Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, which features a lot of what made the first film and, specifically, the marketing for it, so successful. Look for a longer trailer soon, as the film is coming out next May.
– Speaking of short promos, we got a new look at FX’s Legion, along with a release date month – February.
– Gilbert Hernandez is already planning a new spinoff from the newly revived (as of yesterday) “Love and Rockets.” Called “Psychodrama Illustrated,” the issue drops in January.
– Jean Grey is getting a new Marvel book as part of the “ResurrXion” event, joining Iceman and Weapon X as characters fronting their own books this spring.
– Supposedly Fox and Marvel have a shortlist of folks they want to play Domino in Deadpool 2, including Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Sofia Boutella, Lizzy Caplan, Sienna Miller, Stephanie Sigman, and Sylvia Hoeks. Winstead has comics film experience from her turn as Ramona in Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World, and Caplan is no stranger to genre work, with her turn on True Blood.
– Hasbro is launching its own convention, to be held in Providence, Rhode Island, next September.
– And, finally, “Edison Rex,” by Chris Roberson and Dennis Culver, is coming to webcomics.
