Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.

– According to Xinhua News (and as relayed through gbtimes), Marvel’s Jeffrey Reingold and Steve Wacker announced that the company would be focused on creating Chinese characters to capitalize on the large fan following Marvel’s films have in the Chinese market. Wacker specifically pointed out how Iron Fist is already based heavily on Chinese imagery. Except for Danny Rand’s actually race, of course. Hopefully this initiative means that (along with some cool new characters), we’ll get a new Iron Fist that doesn’t have such a The Last Samurai tone to him or her. So long as Danny Rand finds his way to hanging out with Luke Cage for a Netflix mini-series, Iron Fist costume or no Iron Fist costume, I’m satisfied.
– Do you have five million dollars? Do you have five million dollars?! If so, do yourself a favor and straight up buy the original Batmobile from the 1966 Batman TV show. The car was originally sold to collector and guy who sounds like a Batman villain, Rick Champagne, but he has since put the car back on the market. He’s presumably tired of Adam West constantly breaking into his house in the middle of the night to go for one last patrol on the town. Buyer beware.
– Vulture Remix did a fake trailer for a 1949 edition of Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Normally, this is where I’d make a cynical joke about they should edit Kirk Alyn’s Superman to look like he’s snapping Zod’s neck in Man of Steel but they were already ten steps ahead of me. Enjoy.
– At Michigan State University’s football game this weekend, the school’s marching band did a tribute to all things Marvel. The band’s formations into stuff like the Iron Man and Avengers symbols are pretty cool, and they do a solid “Hooked on a Feeling” cover, but the absolute highlight is the announcer. This announcer, bombastically reading off a cue card, has a point where he yells at someone to stop touching his headphone, only to explain that he’s referencing Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s super weird and super great. Also the band ends up forming Ronan the Accuser’s face, complete with black tears, which is the most legit nerd tribute I’ve ever seen.
– Interested in Valiant Comics but not totally sure how to get into it? ComicsAlliance has a solid beginner’s guide for the line.
