– BOOM! Studios are releasing a new “Firefly” one-shot that will focus on Malcolm Reynolds’s mother. The one-shot is titled “Firefly: The Outlaw Ma Reynolds” and is written by main “Firefly” comic writer Greg Pak, with art by Davide Gianfelice (“Nightwing”). In the book, Mal’s mother, Maude Reynolds, is at the top of the Alliance’s Most Wanted list. Mal must get to her first before the Alliance does. Throughout the journey, readers will discover the secret history between the two characters and how it will play into the rest of this universe, created by Joss Whedon. The book will be released on January 15th, 2020.

– BOOM! Studios have also announced “Ben 10: The Creature from Serenity Shore,” a new middle-grade graphic novel based on the Cartoon Network series, Ben 10. The graphic novel reteams award-winning writer C.B. Lee and artist Mattia di Meo (“Ben 10: For Science!”), and will be available in stores July 2020. The book will follow Ben, Gwen, and Grandpa Max as they head to the beach for a relaxing vacation – but chaos ensues as they are interrupted by Sharktopus, and as the group uses their abilities to take down the monster and save the shore and their vacation.

– Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’s Watchmen score is heading to vinyl, and will be released in three different volumes as the HBO series unravels. Volume 1 will be released on November 4th, volume 2 on November 25th, and volume 3 on December 16th. Each of the volumes will include 39 tracks and are now available for pre-order. These vinyl volumes will be the only physical release of the score, but digital releases for each volume will be available shortly after the releases of the physical copies. Right now, Amazon has the volumes listed for around $26 each.

– A page of HBO’s website, titled Peteypedia, allows fans of the new Watchmen series to read actual documents from the show, giving viewers a totally immersive experience where they can dive deeper into this iconic world. Presented as files from FBI special agent Dale Petey, the website currently includes a memo file titled “The Computer and You,” the research file “Trust in the Law,” a newspaper clipping of “Veidt Declared Dead,” and another memo file, “Rorschach’s Journal.”

– From independent game developer, No Yetis Allowed, new mobile game Judge Dredd: Crime Files is now available to download on the App Store or Google Play. The game includes card-battling gameplay where players can build their own deck of weapons to use against the criminals of the city. The storylines included in the mobile game are written by current “Dredd” writers, and brings Dredd to life with 3D graphics, comic artwork, and voice-overs. The game is free to play, and there will be additional content added after launch, which will include new storylines, weapons, enemies, and locations.

– The Daydream Theater Company, at the Rise Playhouse in Rhode Island, have announced the world premiere of the play Seduction of the Innocent, written and directed by Lenny Schwartz. The play is based on the story of German-American author and psychiatrist Frederic Wertham and his book, Seduction of the Innocent, which almost destroyed the comic industry. The play will focus on his life as a psychiatrist and as a critic of comics. The play will touch on how the book affected the world, pop culture, and Wertham himself. The production dates are November 14th, 15th, 16th, 21st, 22nd, and 23rd at 8 pm. Tickets are available now for $15 at ristage.org or at the door.

– Lastly, Lucasfilm have released the second and final trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which you can watch here. (You can also view the theatrical poster here.) The ending of the Skywalker Saga hits theaters December 20, and tickets are on sale now.
