– In the latest issue of “The Mighty Thor,” a part of Marvel’s Legacy relaunch there was a double-page spread from artist Russell Dauterman teasing what’s to come in the title and in other parts of the MU. Writer Jason Aaron, who also penned the “Marvel Legacy” one-shot to begin the relaunch, said this image highlights some of the big stories coming to Marvel in 2018. As a part of that image, and further highlighted today, there’s a redesigned version of Odinson with a golden arm and a golden Mjolnir. What will the future of Odinson and Jane Foster’s Thor look like?
– MCM Central, the organization in charge of producing some of the biggest comic-cons in the United Kingdom has been acquired by ReedPOP, the world’s largest producer of pop culture events. MCM was founded in 2002 and put on the London Expo con which rebranded itself in 2004 as the London MCM (Movies, Comics, Media) Expo and in 2005 took steps to grow the scope of the convention and launch other such conventions across the UK. ReedPOP is the organization that launched New York Comic-Con in 2006 which has grown to be one of the largest comic conventions in the world. The partnership will take place immediately and influence events in 2018 and beyond.
– In more acquisition news, comic book company Lion Forge Press has acquired comic book website ComicsBeat.Com, colloquially known as The Beat. Current Editor-in-Chief Heidi McDonald will stay on while David Steward II will become publisher of the site. This follows a known pattern of comic companies owning news websites such as Avatar Press and Bleeding Cool as well as Marvel and CBR.
– It seems like I never go through one of these posts without typing that some actor will also be in Avengers: Infinity War or the unnamed Avengers 4. The pattern continues as Kevin Feige revealed that Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel will indeed star, as rumored, in Avengers 4 following her debut in Captain Marvel. Captain Marvel will be the MCU’s 21st entry, and first female solo entry, and drops March 8, 2019 followed by Avengers 4 May 3, 2019.
– In more MCU news, the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok, which is the best reviewed Thor movie and one of the best reviewed MCU movies, has two fan-favorite characters that you haven’t seen the last of. Kevin Feige revealed that the characters Korg, actually played by director Taika Waititi, and his partner Miek are not going away from the MCU. Feige stated “We have plans for Korg and Miek. When and where we’ll have to wait and see, but we, like the audience now that they’ve seen them, can’t get enough.”
– We can finally confirm the runtime for Justice League at 121 minutes, making it the shortest of all the current DCEU films. Maybe that’s a good thing? Justice League hits theaters in a few weeks on November 17th.
– Mark Millar teased today that he is again collaborating with “Kick-Ass” artist John Romita, Jr. and that new details of the collaboration will be revealed in the next two weeks. Will this be the new “Kick-Ass” comics announced last year that haven’t come to fruition? Something else? And what does this mean for the future of all the artists on DC’s New Age of Heroes books? Are they all really rolling off after one arc as rumored?
