– Activision have published “The Official Comic of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4,” an online ten-issue series spotlighting each of the Specialists (or playable characters) from the latest game in the series. The series was overseen by a creative team headed by Greg Rucka, that includes fellow writers Chris Roberson, Jeremy Barlow, K.A. McDonald, Aaron Duran, Matthew Robinson, and artist Tony Shasteen: a full list of each issue’s creative team can be read here. The whole series is available to read and download for free right now.

– Mark Waid has launched a GoFundMe page to cover legal costs, after Richard Meyer, one of the leaders of the online harassment group ComicsGate, filed a defamation lawsuit against him. Waid wrote, “I’ve been lucky enough to write stories featuring heroes we all know – characters like Superman and Captain America – who taught me at an early age to stand up for kindness, equality, and tolerance. I have never backed down from bullies, especially those who denigrate my friends, colleagues and the values our community stands for, and while I am not a rich man, you have my solemn promise that I will fight this fight no matter the personal cost.” At the time of writing, Waid has raised $21,084 towards his $75,000 goal.

– Artist Alvaro Martinez Bueno (“Justice League Dark”) has renewed his exclusive contract with DC Comics for another three years. Martinez Bueno told Newsarama, “I believe we have a lot of exciting stories to tell and many DC characters that I want to draw in the future. I also want to repay DC’s trust in me, always giving me amazing books and pushing my career forward.” Martinez Bueno has worked regularly at DC since 2014, penciling titles like “Batman Eternal,” “Robin War” and “Grayson.”

– Netflix have assembled the rest of the main cast for Daybreak, its ten-part adaptation of Brian Ralph’s post-apocalyptic graphic novel. Joining Matthew Broderick are Colin Ford (Captain Marvel, We Bought A Zoo), Alyvia Alyn Lind (Coat of Many Colors, Young and the Restless), Sophie Simnett (Poldark, Endeavor), Austin Crute (Booksmart, Atlanta), Gregory Kasyan (Quest, The Brave), Krysta Rodriguez (Trial & Error, Smash), Cody Kearsley (Riverdale, Spiral), and Jeante Godlock (The Simone Biles Story: Courage to Soar). Details on their characters can be found at Deadline.

– Director Destin Daniel Cretton (Short Term 12) and playwright Michael Mitnick (The Giver) will adapt Scott McCloud’s graphic novel “The Sculptor” into a film. The 2015 book told the story of David Smith, a struggling New York artist who makes a deal with Death for the power to sculpt anything he wants, but at the cost of having less than a year to live – however, David comes to regret this decision when he falls in love. The film will be distributed by Warner Bros.

– Steve Ditko is to be the subject of a new play opening in November at the RISE Playhouse in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. Ditko, written and directed by Lenny Schwartz, will star Derek Laurendau as the late co-creator of Spider-Man and Doctor Strange, and explore his years at Marvel, as well as his Objectivist beliefs. For more information, head to Newsarama.

– Bandai Namco have announced fighting game Jump Force will be released for Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on February 15, 2019. Accompanying the announcement was a new trailer that revealed Kenshiro (“Fist of the North Star”) and Ryo Saeba (“City Hunter”) will be part of the game’s character roster.

– CBS All Access has given a two-season order for Star Trek: Lower Decks, an animated half-hour comedy from writer/producer Mike McMahan (Rick and Morty, South Park). McMahan is no stranger to Star Trek, having written the official parody book Star Trek: The Next Generation – Warped: An Engaging Guide to the Never-Aired 8th Season. The series, “which will focus on the support crew serving on one of Starfleet’s least important ships,” is the second announced follow-up to Star Trek: Discovery in development at CBS All Access, following a new series starring Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard.

– Chip Zdarsky confirmed with Newsarama that November’s “Marvel Two-in-One” #12 will be the series’ final issue. He stated he “really want[ed] to stay out of the way of Dan [Slott]’s ‘Fantastic Four’ book, so it seemed like as good a time as any to wrap it up. This, of course, coincided with developing ‘Invaders,’ which feels like the spiritual successor to ‘Marvel 2-in-One.'” “Invaders” launches January 2019.

– In further Marvel solicitation updates, the company announced November’s “West Coast Avengers” #4 will see the characters appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and unveiled a variant cover by David Nakayama homaging 1984’s “Avengers” #239 (which saw the team, including Clint Barton’s Hawkeye, appear on Late Night with David Letterman). Marvel have also delayed “Black Order” #1 and “The Life Of Captain Marvel” #5 from November to December.
