– Via The Hollywood Reporter, Image announced the sequel to “Mirka Andolfo’s Mercy,” a mini-series entitled “Mirka Andolfo’s Merciless.” Andolfo will be joined by Siya Oum, who said, “For the longest time, I have admired Mirka’s work. She is always creating something fresh, lively, and unique only to her. There was no way I would pass up the opportunity to work with Mirka and the team!” In the follow-up, Rory’s attempts to reclaim some kind of normal life after surviving unspeakable horrors at the hands of the wicked Lady Hellaine initially seem successful, but her specter looms larger than Rory might believe, meaning that her new sense of calm is not likely to last. “Mirka Andolfo’s Merciless” debuts in 2021.

– Via the School Library Journal, Oni-Lion Forge Publishing Group announced “The Sprite and the Gardener” by Rii Abrego and Joe Whitt, a new graphic novel set to be published in May 2021. Originally the story started as a single-page online comic, but after getting an enthusiastic response, Abrego worked closely with Whitt to expand it into a graphic novel. The story follows Wisteria, an ambitious, kind-hearted sprite, who starts to ask questions about the way things used to be, and begins to unearth her long-lost talent of gardening. You can see the full press release as well as some preview pages here.

– To commemorate the Japanese release of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Ubisoft launched a special Viking collaboration with Makato Yukimura’s manga “Vinland Saga.” Set in 11th century Europe, “Vinland Saga” tells a bloody epic in an era where violence, madness, and injustice are inescapable, providing a paradise for the battle-crazed and utter hell for the rest who live in it. The collaboration came about because the two narratives take place roughly during the same historical time period. You can check out the seven-page crossover manga drawn by Yukihara here. Moreover, Yukimura will also draw an Assassins Creed manga that will be released in the coming days.

– On Thursday, in an effort to incentivize people to vote in the upcoming US election, Tom King tweeted a “box of ‘Detective [Comics]’ 1027 I’ll be signing and giving away FREE to voters on 11/3 @FatJacks in Philly. See you there in a safe line or wave as you pick up a comic and go or get one the next day. Your choice.” He followed up on Saturday by tweeting “And free ‘Rorschach’ comics, and free hardcovers, and free ‘Strange Adventures’ comics..”

– Via CBR, cartoonist Trina Robbins has revealed that five pieces of her original comic book art from the 1970s have been stolen, and urged fans to speak up if they see anything that could lead to the artwork’s recovery. A cartoonist and historian, Robbins was an influential creator during the underground comix movement back in the ’70s. She is also a co-creator of Vampirella, having been the one who designed the character’s costume. In 1986, Robbins became the first woman to draw an official Wonder Woman comic book, penciling Kurt Busiek’s “The Legend of Wonder Woman” limited series. In a post to her Facebook page, Robbins says that before the coronavirus lockdown took hold earlier this year, she loaned five pieces of her original comic art for an exhibit at Sacramento State, which was subsequently cancelled. Robbins wrote that the woman in charge of the exhibit “returned my pages via FedEx back in May! I saw the FedEx receipt — someone had signed for the package, signing my name as “RTRINA” — I have never signed my name like that!” Robbins urges fans to keep an eye out for any stolen material.

– Via Deadline, Kevin Kopelow & Heath Seifert, EP/showrunners of Nickelodeon’s All That, have scored a pilot order from the network for Warped!, a comedy set in a popular comic book store. The show follows Milo, the beloved head geek and manager at a popular comic book store whose microcosm is disrupted when his boss hires the loud and excitable Ruby. Despite their differences, the two form an unlikely alliance when they team up to create the next great superhero franchise.

– Finally, Anime News Network reported NTWRK and Anime NYC have partnered to livestream the virtual event, originally anticipated to draw 50,000 unique attendees. In place of a physical gathering in New York City, Anime NYC will be open to attendees around the world and headquartered online inside the NTWRK app. Anime NYC Online will be held across four nights – November 17-20 – on the NTWRK app. Each night will include exclusive interviews and presentations with the creators and companies at the forefront of Japanese pop culture together with opportunities to take home exclusive, pre-release, and original goods. It was also reported that Crunchyroll will sponsor the online event. Anime NYC Online will begin November 17, 2020.
