The Rundown: Raimi Would ‘Love’ Another Spin With Spider-Man, “DKIII” Master Race Revealed, and more

– Making a good movie is hard. Making a good sequel is even tougher. But making a good second sequel? That’s nigh impossible; just ask Sam Raimi. The Evil Dead show runner admits he didn’t stick the landing on Spider-Man 3 like he wanted to, but would “love” to take another shot at it if Marvel was looking for his input. Maybe after a couple of Ash vs. Evil Dead seasons (premiering tomorrow night on Starz!) are in the can, huh, Sam? I’ve been waiting too long for that franchise to come back to not get a full ride on that crazy train before you go off and do something else.

– Speaking of second sequels, Frank Miller spoke to a French website recently about “DKIII” and clarified a few things about what the story will and won’t be. Mild spoilers (and some Google translate work required), but nothing on par with CBR’s DC-approved spoiler bomb after a warning about as effective as police tape at a crime scene.

– Cullen Bunn’s writing plate, while still full, is seeing projects coming & going at a decent clip recently. One of the departures, “Aquaman”, didn’t end up being the most pleasant experience due in large part to some vocal fan reaction.

– My personal Kickstarter Spotlight this week goes to Shadoweyes, Sophie Campbell’s webcomic coming yo print from rising indie publisher Iron Circus Comics.

– As if drawing the Image ongoing “No Mercy” (with Alex DeCampi) and writing/drawing the ‘Finder’ serials in “Dark Horse Presents” wasn’t enough to keep her busy, Carla Speed McNeil is taking time to draw an upcoming issue of Cullen Bunn & Tyler Crook’s “Harrow County”.

Greg Matiasevich

Greg Matiasevich has read enough author bios that he should be better at coming up with one for himself, yet surprisingly isn't. However, the years of comic reading his parents said would never pay off obviously have, so we'll cut him some slack on that. He lives in Baltimore, co-hosts (with Mike Romeo) the Robots From Tomorrow podcast, writes Multiversity's monthly Shelf Bound column dedicated to comics binding, and can be followed on Twitter at @GregMatiasevich.
