– Wolverine is on everyone’s mind right now, including our Canadian comic brethren in the north, ey. If you remember back in 2014, there was a petition to get a statue erected in the town of Edmonton in Alberta, Canada. The petition ultimately didn’t succeed; however, the dream is alive once again in the form of a crowdfunding campaign on IndieGoGo. This time the hope is to have the statue erected in Fort McMurray further north closer to James Howlett’s fictional birthplace. The campaign to raise the $85,000 needed to bring this statue to fruition still has 2 months left to go, but why not hop on the bandwagon early, bub?

– Michael Bay (Bad Boys, Transformers)’s comic book company 451 Media Group has announced that it will be publishing “Safehaven,” a new graphic novel by James Seale. The announcement was accompanied by a jazzy bit about an Augmented Reality “experience” to be released in conjunction with the graphic novel. What’s not in the announcement is any mention of the art team. Unless we are to assume that the comic will be drawn by the fictional protagonist of the book Jenna, a high school comic artist whose drawings open up a portal to the evil dimension which plagues her drawings. The purpose of 451 Media Group is to develop interesting new stories for film development by Bay, so in addition to looking out for “Safehaven” in 2018 be on the lookout for the inevitable film adaptation as well.

– Taking into consideration the terrible opening to Marvel’s Inhumans television show, IMAX has stated that they will be “more conservative” when considering whether to invest money or theatre screens in television going forward. The show’s first two episodes were screened early last month in IMAX theatres to lackluster sales, garnering only $3.5 million over the course of its theatrical run, and was poorly received by fans and critics alike. The final episode of Inhumans airs November 10 on ABC.

– After several weeks of being closed the Charles Shultz Museum and Research Center in San Rosa, California has announced that they will be once again opening there doors in two weeks time. The museum and surrounding residents were forced to evacuate due to wildfires in Sonoma County where the museum resides. Although the artwork and memorabilia within Museum were undamaged, the home where Charles M. Shultz and his wife Jean lived for many years prior to his death in 2000 was destroyed, thankfully Jean Shultz was unharmed.

– Aftershock Comics, publisher of books like “Animosity” and “Dark Ark,” will be participating for the very first time in Free Comic Book Day 2018. Free Comic Book Day was started by retailer Joe Field of Flying Color Comics in 2002 as a way to entice customers into their local comic book stores. While the list of 50 books for next years FCBD remains under wraps we now know that in addition to Valiant’s “Harbinger Wars 2” free comic book there will be at least one Aftershock offering. Free Comic Book Day 2018 will be held on Saturday, May 5.

– Wynonna Earp fans rejoice: plans for a U.S. Wynona Earp convention were recently revealed for next October in Minneapolis. Earp-a-palooza, as it is called, has been a smash success overseas and now will be bringing together the fans of Beau Smith (“Wildcat vs. Catwoman,” “Cobb: Off the Leash”)’s comic book series and the SyFy cult television show of the same name. Information for the convention, including guest updates, ticket prices and hotel rates, will be available here.

– The first poster for the gritty monster filled anime third season of Attack On Titan was released yesterday. The poster shows the series main protagonist Eren Jaegar locked in chains atop a crystal pillar framed between the legs of an unseen figure. The second season of Attack On Titan came to a close in June this year and if your not sure whether to start in on the series before season 3 arrives you can read our very own Jacob Hill’s five thoughts on each and every episode.

– Writer Noelle Stevenson (“Lumberjanes,” “Nimona”) shared on Twitter an all to familiar sequence of events. After kissing her girlfriend goodbye the previous morning Stevenson awoke to find that her tires had been slashed, this wasn’t the first time her car was the subject for ignorant vandalism, previously this year someone decided to write a rather incendiary message to her in the dust accumulated on the back of her car. If you’d like to help pay for those new tires Noelle’s going to need you can go buy some of her awesome art here.

Samuel Oosting-FitzMichael is a very tall man who would prefer if you just called him Sam. His hobbies include pretending to have hobbies, desperately trying to read his always increasing 'to read' pile, and baking. He can be found on Twitter pontificating on the philosophical meaning behind all those Charmin Bear ads. What ever happened to the Batusi?
