– Fresh off of his debut on Arrow last night, there has been a lot of buzz about the upcoming The Flash CW program, hoping to debut in the fall. This morning, some casting descriptions of Iris West and her father popped up online. While the descriptions sound interesting and true, in spirit, to the comic, I can see people having a problem with two words: African American. Of course, this should not matter at all but, c’mon, you know certain folks get real attached to fictional characters and get upset when their races change. Regardless, I’m excited about the show.
– Yesterday, one of the most beloved figures on the planet, Nelson Mandela died. I had no idea that he had an officially licensed biographical comic, did you?
– Check out this incredible Chip Dzarsky variant to “Quantum & Woody: The Goat” #0. Friendship is tragic, indeed.
– Stan Lee is trying, yet again, to get control of the rights for all of his Marvel co-creators. As much as I feel for the guy – it must suck to have no control over your creations – he’s a multi-millionaire who has his name on a ton of comics each month. Just like Jack Kirby, right?
– And finally, over at Comics Alliance, Andrew Wheeler discusses mortality, and its lack of import, in modern comics.
