Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.
– It’s a way rougher time to be a Flash fan than it should be. Not only is the Fastest Man Alive starring in a TV show that has hit it’s third year, but Warner Bros are desperately trying to put together a feature film. Sadly, that film has hit yet another snag as Variety has reported that Rick Famuyiwa has departed the film over creative differences. This sucks not only because Famuyiwa’s vision for the movie sounded interesting, but this is the second director to walk away from the film. Is the The Flash cursed? I hope not.
– Just in time for Halloween, R. L. Stine has mentioned on a Reddit AMA that he has been writing comics for Marvel. Could this tie into the upcoming “Monsters Unleashed”?
– This should come as no surprise, but it has been confirmed that Simone Missick’s Misty Knight and Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page will feature in Marvel’s The Defenders next year.
– Remember how Tim Miller walked away from Deadpool 2 apparently over creative differences surrounding the tone of the sequel and the casting of Cable? Well, looks like he’s already landed a rebound gig… in the form of a Sonic The Hedgehog movie. That could be interesting.
– While Ryan Reynolds and Tim Miller were fighting amongst themselves over the casting of Cable, these fans were way ahead of them. Check out this fan film featuring the time travelling mutant and his adoptive daughter, the mutant messiah Hope. It’s a pretty cool, little five minute thing that loosely translates the first issue of “X-Men: Second Coming”, but it is very much a fan film. This film is stretching what little budget it has to the max.
