-Las Vegas native JH Williams III (seen to the left being punched in the face by one of his most iconic character assignments) with the help of Eric Stephenson, Scott Allie, Dave Stewart, and Wendy Wright-Williams, put together a benefit book for the victims of the Las Vegas shooting called “Where We Live.” In addition to generating funds for the victims and victims families, they hope to spark thoughtful and fruitful discussions about how to prevent future tragedies like this that are far too common.
-On something of a video game adaptation roll over the last year, Titan Comics announced that they well be publishing “Bloodborne: The Death of Sleep” in February 2018. Writer Ales Kot (“Zero,” “Generation Gone”), who says he’s put 200 hours into the game, is “honored” to be contributing a story to the Bloodbourne story along with artist Piotr Kowalski, who has worked on the video game comics “Wolfenstein”, and “Dark Souls.”
– Tim Sale (“Batman: The Long Halloween,” “Daredevil: Yellow”) apparently has been in talks with Tom King and Kyle Higgins to work with them at DC on two yet to be named Batman projects. The news comes from an appearance at ReedPOP’s Comic Con Paris last weekend.
– Cartoonist Elizabeth Beier’s graphic memoir, “The Big Book of Bisexual Trial and Errors,” comes out this November from Northwest Press. In her interview with Nadia Shammas at Comicosity, Beier talked about the creation of the book. Half written as zines in 2014 and 2015 in the wake of a breakup and finished in the summer of 2017, she gives both the raw view of herself and her relationships then, and her reflections looking back on it now.
– Tessa Thompson, Valkyrie from Thor: Ragnarok, pitched Marvel Studios President President Kevin Feige on an all female superhero film joined by fellow Marvel superhero actors Scarlett Johansson, Zoe Saldana, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan and Brie Larson. What started as a discussion about them possibly all working together on screen in Avengers: Infinity War sparked the idea for a project all its own involving all of them.
– Dwayne Johnson was cast as Black Atom for years now, but until January, it was presumed that he would appear in the Shazam film. Now it appears that he will get his own film from New Line Cinema, and it may have found its director.. Adam Sztykiel, the creator of Undateable, and writer of We’re The Millers and Spy Guys, is in talks with the studio about heading up the project.
