In case you missed it, we interviewed Tyler Crook about the conclusion of “The Lonesome Hunters: The Wolf Child.”

'Maple Terrace' by
Noah Van Sciver

– Uncivilized Books unveiled three graphic novel releases for Spring 2024: “Evil Eyes Sea,” a murder mystery by Turkish-American artist Ozge Samanci, set during the 1995 Turkish general election, which will be released on March 26, 2024; “Maple Terrace,” Noah Van Sciver’s memoir of growing up obsessed with comics in the 1990s, due out May 21, 2024; and “The Sickness,” Vol. 1, a decades-spanning horror story by Jenna Cha and Lonnie Nadler, releasing June 18, 2024. “Evil Eyes Sea” is an original graphic novel, while “Maple Terrace” and “The Sickness” have been published in monthly issues; the bookstore releases will each retail for $24.95.

– Lerner Publishing’s Graphic Universe have announced “Hotelitor: Luxury-Class Hospitality and Defense Unit,” a sci-fi comedy by Josh Hicks (“Glorious Wrestling Alliance: Ultimate Championship Edition”). The graphic novel follows Anna Greene, an 18-year old intern at a hotel that is also a giant robot, which winds up becoming stranded in space after an alien attack. “Alongside her fellow entry-level service workers, she must try to control the chaos while rival factions emerge, wealthy VIPs seize hotel resources, and the bar’s musician-in-residence develops a literal cult following.” It will be released on May 7, 2024.

– In Disney news, Marvel made Peach Momoko’s two-page “Ultimate X-Men” prelude from this week’s “Ultimate Universe” one-shot available to read for free online; the publisher also released concept art of Ultimate Armor and Maystorm (the latter of whom originally debuted on Momoko’s New Champions cover for this year’s “X-Men” #27.) The series begins March 6. Meanwhile, Lucasfilm announced Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will be added to Disney+ on December 1, along with a new documentary, Timeless Heroes: Indiana Jones and Harrison Ford. Directed by Laurent Bouzereau, the special will look at the actor’s early life and time as the legendary archaeologist, with behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with Ford’s colleagues from all five films.

– In Marvel Games news, Adidas are now selling clothing based on Miles Morales’s Evolved Suit from Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2. The suit, which is unlocked as part of the main story, has garnered a mixed reception from fans. Meanwhile, as speculation begins to mount Daredevil will appear in the game’s DLC, footage from an unreleased 2004 project, Daredevil: The Man Without Fear, has surfaced online. The PC, PlayStation 2, and Xbox game was developed at 5,000 Ft Studios for publisher Encore, who ultimately only released the Game Boy Advance movie tie-in from 2003 (which to date remains the only game headlined by Matt Murdock.) The 17-minute footage features voiceover, radar sense, fights with Kingpin, Bullseye and Elektra, and more.

– In an interview with SFX magazine, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off creators Bryan O’Malley and BenDavid Grabinski told fans to expect the Netflix series to remain a miniseries, covering the events of O’Malley’s comic in a single season. Grabinski states, “This season is a story that has an end. But I love this world, the cast and the characters. If Bryan and I sat down one day and started brainstorming and thinking of other stories to tell, and the cast wanted to do it, then great, but I put 10,000 percent of my brain into this season and I think it has a great ending.” The eight-part anime releases Friday, November 17.

– Finally, artist Rachel Distler (“The Nightcrawlers”) has shared she is facing housing insecurity, and is selling original pages from the graphic novel; you can support her via her Ko-fi shop. “The Nightcrawlers,” written by Marco Lopez and originally crowdfunded on Zoop, follows a group of kids solving supernatural mysteries. The first volume, “The Boy Who Cried, Wolf,” sees the quintet and their dog embark on their first case “when a friend from school believes werewolves replaced his parents.” It will be released by Ablaze Publishing on Wednesday, November 8.
