Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.

– Mark Hamill, who co-wrote the comic “The Black Pearl” with Eric Johnson, is working on a project for Millarworld under its new ownership at Netflix. Despite his past involvement as a character in Kingsman: The Secret Service and its movie adaptation, his book for them will not specifically be from that. Instead, it will be an existing Mark Millar creation recently bought by the video streaming company.

– In other Star Wars related news, eBay continues its dive into the variant cover game with “Star Wars” #38, ‘The Ashes of Jedha’ Part 1, featuring art by Rod Reis. The cover will be limited to 3000 copies and follows previous variants for “Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man” and “Legacy” #1. Like before, they’ve partnered with the Jesse James Comics store for this special.

– In their Money section, Time Magazine breaks down the real incomes for comics professionals at various levels of the industry. It presents the realities of the page rates that pencilers, inkers, colorists and letterers typically receive as well as the typical incomes for writers and higher ups like CEOs. The realities of what the people make working on the books we love is both enlightening and depressing compared to the income of the company executives.

– In the wake of the success of the Wonder Woman movie, Millennium Media plans to make a Red Sonja film in hopes of creating a new female hero centric franchise. Millennium’s Avi Learner and Joe Gatta, along with Cinelou’s Mark Canton and Courtney Solomon are striking while the iron is hot and are looking next for a writer for the project.

– Cartoonist Tor Freeman has been named winner of the Observer/Cape/Comica graphic short story prize 2017. Her winning strip “If You’re So Wise, How Come You’re Dead” is available to read at The Guardian.

– The Tamil Nadu Police arrested cartoonist G Bala for his cartoon caricature that criticized the chief minister of the government and local officials for their mishandling of a local family’s continued harassment by debt collectors that lead to the family’ suicide. Bali G’s scathing cartoon attack on the chief minister EK Paianiswamy, the Tirunleveli police Commissioner and debt collector because of the Isaki family suicide attracted official attention and lead to the arrest of the 36 year old cartoonist.

– According to Chris Hemsworth, the Thor that will appear in Avengers: Infinity War will show the effects of his battles in Thor: Ragnarok. SPOILERS: Chris Hemsworth revealed Thor will be wearing an eyepatch and be sans hammer following the events in the film. How long will these consequences stay in place? If the MCU follows typical comics plotting, probably not too long.

– The Comic-Con HQ streaming video service is discontinuing it’s stand alone service. It will continue life bring Comic-Con programming via multiple streaming platforms: Roku, Amazon and TobiTV will carry their content in the future.
