In case you missed it, Edith Pritchett’s “An Artistic Odyssey” took home top prize of the 2018 Observer/Cape/Comica graphic short story contest, and Valiant’s War-Monger is returning in a new miniseries.
– Current “Runaways” artist Kris Anka is opening a solo gallery exhibit at Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, California, reports Newsarama. The exhibit will debut Nov. 10, and Anka will host a reception and signing on Nov. 17.
– Kitty O’Neil, the stuntwoman who doubled for Lynda Carter on the Wonder Woman TV series, has died at the age of 72. The Hollywood Reporter states she died on Friday at Eureka Community Hospital in Eureka, South Dakota, after suffering from pneumonia and a recent heart attack. O’Neil was also famous for having set a land-speed record as the fastest woman driver ever.
– Marvel’s series of original Wolverine podcasts has been renewed for a second season. IndieWire says Wolverine: The Lost Trail will feature Richard Armitage’s Logan adventuring through the bayou of New Orleans, with writer Benjamin Percy, director Brendan Baker, and sound designer Chloe Prasinos also returning for the Stitcher Premium sequel. The first episode will be released sometime in Winter 2019.
– Filmmaker and author Jonathan Stutzman is launching a new chapter book graphic novel series, called “Fitz & Cleo,” through Henry Holt Books for Young Readers, with Heather Fox providing illustrations. You can find more info on the series, which is slated for a Spring 2020 release, at Publishers Weekly.
– Joe Todd-Stanton’s “Brownstone’s Mythical Collection” series has been optioned for film by DreamWorks, according to Down the Tubes. The fantasy series, which began in 2016, is set to release a third printed volume in Fall of next year.
– BOOM! Studios’s “Buffy” reboot is bringing the big guns in early. Drusilla and Spike will appear in the new series’s second issue, says ComicBook.com, to cause trouble for the freshly-minted Slayer. You can check out the issue’s cover at the link above.
