– Dark Horse announced “Raiders,” a fantasy graphic novel written by Daniel Freedman and drawn by CROM. A story filled with dungeons, loot, and monsters, the comic follows two brothers who find themselves at the wrong end of the ruling power when they stumble upon a secret that could unravel their entire political system. “Raiders” will be at comic book stores June 10, 2020, and at book stores June 23, 2020.
– Scholastic’s David Saylor has acquired the graphic novel “City of Dragons” by writer Jaimal Yogis and artist Vivian Truong. It’s a coming of age tale filled with monsters and problems that can be solved with friendship, compassion, and courage. This middle-grade graphic novel is set for release in fall of 2021.
– J.J., Henry Abrams and Sara Pichelli’s “Spider-Man” #3 and #4 have been pushed back by 11 weeks. “Spider-Man” #3 was originally supposed to be released on November 27th, but is now coming out December 18th. “Spider-Man” #4 was supposed to come out December 11th, but fans won’t see it now until February 19th. No reason so far has been given for the pushback.
– DC has canceled “War Giant” #1 and “Teen Titans Go Giant” #2 indefinitely. The company informed retailers that all orders have been canceled, but that they plan to release them at a later date. No reason has been given for the cancellation.
– Valiant Comics has announced that in 2020 they will be debuting a brand new series each month. The press release teased new series of “Shadowman,” “Ninjak,” “Harbinger,” “Punk Mambo,” and “Savage,” as well as a new superhero called Doctor Tomorrow.
– The CW announced Kevin Smith is hosting a ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’ talk show called Crisis Aftermath, which will discuss and unpack every episode of the crossover event. ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’ begins next month and will extend into the new year, starting with Supergirl and Batwoman on December 8th, and then going into The Flash on December 10th.
Furthermore, the CW has released the dates for the midseason and season premieres for the following shows: Tuesday, January 21, 2020 for Arrow and season 5 of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (the conclusion of ‘Crisis’), and Thursday, February 6, 2020 for the Riverdale spin-off Katy Keene.
– Marvel has hired The Umbrella Academy head writer Jeremy Slater to help develop Moon Knight for the Disney+ streaming service. Jessica Gao has also been hired to oversee writing the planned She-Hulk series. Gao won an Emmy for penning the episode “Pickle Rick” for Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty, and also has writing credits for Nickelodeon’s The Mighty B and HBO’s Silicon Valley.
– GLAAD released its annual report on LGBTQ and racial representation, where shows like the CW’s Batwoman and ABC’s Stumptown were highlighted as helping boost representation on TV overall this year.
– Finally, at this year’s People’s Choice Awards, Avengers: Endgame was voted Best Movie and Best Action Movie of 2019, as well as Male Movie Star of 2019 for Robert Downey Jr. Tom Holland and Zendaya also won awards for their roles in Spider-Man: Far From Home, while Cole Sprouse was named Male TV Star of 2019 for Riverdale.
