Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Infinity Train is now officially the fifth highest-grossing film of all time in Japan, as well as the third highest-grossing anime. The film also holds the record of highest-grossing opening for a film released on a weekday, with 1.2 billion made on its Friday, October 16 2020 release. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Infinity Train is expected to open in North America in early 2021.

– Webtoon has announced its new production division, Webtoon Studios. This new division will handle film, television, interactive entertainment, licensing and merchandising for the platform and its creators. To aid with this new division, Webtoon will be partnering with Vertigo Entertainment, Bound Entertainment, and Rooster Teeth Studios. Bound will co-produce a live-action sci-fi series, while Rooster Teeth will handle an animated “supernatural-themed” series.

– “Hägar the Horrible” will be getting his own animated series. Fresh Off the Boat writer/producer Eric Ziobrowsk will helm the series based on the King Studios strip, with The Jim Henson Company animating. The animation will be produced using Henson Digital Puppetry Studio, allowing for real-time digital puppeteering of the characters by actors. While development has begun on the series, no release date has been announced.

– The third season of Troy Duffy’s “Boondock Saints” is now available on the Macroverse app. A prequel to the films detailing the origin of Il Duce, “Boondock Saints Season 3: Mob War” sees young Noah McManus caught up in a feud between the New York La Cosa Nostra. The series is written by J.B. Love and the writer/director of the films Troy Duffy, with art by Guus Floor and colors by Matt Browning. The TapStory production will be handled by Eben Matthews. “Mob War” will be the finale of the series, though Duffy has expressed interest in doing more comics set in the Boondock Saints universe.

– Netflix’s Umbrella Academy has been renewed for a third season. Shooting will begin this February in Toronto with the principle cast returning, as well as showrunner Steve Blackman. Umbrella Academy is an adaptation of the Dark Horse comic created and written by Gerard Way with art by Gabriel Bá.

– Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson rom-com Marry Me has been delayed by Universal until May 21, 2021. An adaptation of Bobby Crosby and Remy “Eisu” Mokhtar’s webcomic, Marry Me follows pop star Kat Valdez (Lopez), who upon learning of her fiance’s infidelity, marries a random audience member at her show. The film is directed by Kat Coiro with a screenplay by John Rogers, Tami Sagher and Harper Dill. The new release date previously belonged to Spirit Untamed, the sequel to 2002’s Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. Dreamworks has pushed Spirit Untamed’s release to June 4 of that year.

– Reedpop has announced that both Emerald City Comic Con (ECCC) and the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2) have been postponed until late 2021. The Seattle-based ECCC will shift its original March 4-7 date to December 2-5, 2021, with C2E2 moving from March 26-28 to December 10-12, 2021. In the meantime, Reedpop is planning a third Metaverse event for that spring. As of right now, ECCC and C2E2 are the only physical Reedpop events with stated dates. No announcements have been made regarding New York Comic Con.

– Season two of DC and Epix’s Pennyworth will premiere on December 13 of this year, though, due to COVID-19 related delays, only a few episodes will run before a two-part mid-season finale. The remaining episodes will air later in 2021. The series follows classic “Batman” supporting character Alfred Pennyworth (Jack Bannon) during his days with the British SAS in the 1960’. The season two trailer can be viewed on Epix’s YouTube.

– Finally, Marvel Music has released the soundtrack for Spider-Man: Miles Morales digitally. The game, developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony, will release tomorrow on PlayStation 4 and 5. The soundtrack will feature a score from Maze Runner composer John Paesano, and three original tracks from Jaden Smith and Lecrae. You can listen to the video game soundtrack now on Spotify.
